Hands down? Don't you mean hands on?nintendofreak_2
Uhm...it's hand's down awesome? :P
But yeah, the game seems to be turning out great. Hope the voice acting turns out fine in the translation. I look forward to this with much anticipation.

ToS's voice acting was pretty good, so I don't see why this one should be any different.

True. Judging by how IGN was talking, it seems like the story is great.

Lmao, sorry :PThey seemed to think the game was great, not just the story. I'm glad to hear positive things about the new map. I was rather skeptical about it (although Legend of the Dragoon used a similar sty|e and it turned out great) but now I'm really not too worried.True. There, corrected! happy now :P Yeah it looks awesome, I aggree with presto that the first one wasn't that great. The gameplay was interesting, but the story was so so. The story in this one seems way better as it already starts with a global conflict since the fusion of the 2 worlds. There's potential for great plot and character developement.

To me, the story in the first one is what made me love the game so much. The outrageous plot twists, the drama, it was fantastic. SOme of it was predictable, other parts were not. When I heard a sequal was coming I was really worried but you are right; there is potential for this one to have an even better story than the first.
Is this game like final fantasy like you take turns or do you actually get in the combat yourself like by swing the remote to slash once like twilight princess?Shade340
Well you saw the footage right? It's action based, the first one was linear though as with most Tales games. This time around it seems you can free raom the battle field.
looking forward to a RPG on the Wii but why do the *** devs always make the lead charicter dress like a transvesdite lol. I wish thay could have uped the graphics a little more. it looks just like the GC tales game. And a little darker style would have been nice. Im just sick of the candy land overly colorfull style. i'm just speaking on my opinion. i know alot of peole like the colorful syle. Wild_Card
I'm actually enjoying the "candy land overly colorfull style", as you so put it, more and more as time goes by. For me, it's all about game play. But for my wife, it's all about cute and pretty characters. I have a hard time getting my wife into gaming with me unless it has "girly" stuff in it.
So I say bring on the cutsie graphics! The more my wife gets into gaming, the better it is for m, hehe. Unfortunately I tried WoW with her and now that's the only game she plays >,< I NEED something appealing enough to her to pull her away from that, lol. Something like Tales of Symphonia might just distract her enough to make her remember there are other games out there! :P

Oh, that's on my definite get-list. I showed her a trailer and some game play footage for it and she was like "Aw, that's cute" when she saw the chocobo dressed like a black mage. She played final fantasy 7-10(X), so she's wanting to try this one out. Also that Arc Rise or whatever it's called JRPG looks like a good candidate.

Yeah so much RPGs now, finally found a cure to my RPG lackness disease lol. And they all will be released in periodic order so when I'm done with one an other will be available for me to play.

Yeah, the future looks good for the Wii! I just wish I could get one of these NOW, lol. I'm tired of my PC RPGs and I'm skeptical that I'll enjoy radiant dawn. I'm actually about to turn to the VC to scrath my RPG itch right now. I'm thinking Shining in the Darkness deserves another play-through after all these years.

Puzzle Quest do it for me it's not bad only the text size is so small, but it's fun playing with the Wiimote, so relaxing. My life as A king is decent it get pretty cool later on. Dragon quest sword is enjoyable I had a great time with this one and if you want to try something new, get your hand on One piece it's an action RPG, but the game play is interesting.
Is this game like final fantasy like you take turns or do you actually get in the combat yourself like by swing the remote to slash once like twilight princess?Shade340For the gameplay you could consider it Final Fantasy meets smash bros. You walk around normally in dungeons and you can see your enemies clearly on the map. If you make contact with the enemy, the screen switches to your battle screen. In there is where the smash bros. kicks in.
Each character has a basic attack, we'll assume it's done with the A button. Up A means doing a normal ariel attack, Down A means doing a stab/thrust and Side/Neutral A gives you a regular slash. Then you have your special attacks, we'll assume it's done with the B button. As your character grows, he or she learns many speical attacks but you can only assign them to
-Side B
-Up B
-Down B
-Neutral B
Ofcourse if you find yourself in a battle and you really want to switch your assigned moves, you can go right ahead. In the gamecube version you could also assign moves of any character to the C-stick directions. This was especially helpful for issuing a heal command without having to go through the menu's over and over again. While battling, you can hold down a button (for Gamecube it was R) and the game would sort of pause and allow you to switch between targets.
While fighting a target, you and your enemy are on a single plane so while you might be fighting on Plane of Enemy A, your partners may be fighting on completely different planes with other enemies. There's also the possibility of enemies coming at you from two different planes. This new game however has a battle system more similar to Tales of the Abyss. In Tales of the Abyss, you could hold down L2 which would allow you to run anywhere you wanted on the map without being stuck to the planes. Letting go of L2 would put you back into a plane and continue on with the Tales of Symphonia styled battle.
At the end of the battle, you would also recieve something called GRADE. Grade is a point system, you're awarded Grade depending on your performance in the battle. Things such as your victory speed, amount of items used, damage taken and so on all contribute to effecting the final amount of Grade you get. at the end of the game you can cash in your Grade to effect your second play through. Things like recieveing 10 times the xp you would usually get, transferring all your items, transferring all your spells were some of the possibilities in Symphonia.
I know it's a lot to take in but when you play it, it'll feel really easy and you'll find playing the game natural.
Im very pumped about this game.... and seesh i cant believe my last comment here got deleted. How lame, this website is quickly becoming a joke. I think ill head over to gamepro.com where they dont threaten to ban you for commenting on a game.lestat23l
