Tales of the Abyss 3DS Review.

knocked off 3 points for only 2 cons.

They said it was disappointing, yet its the exact same from the PS2.

I KNOW its an 'opinion'. but i doubt it reflects the opinion of many others.

So far the only thing thats bad that they mentioned is the 3d. but who actually plays the 3ds for its 3d effect?

And the skits are the same.. but that was to be expected.

No voice in skits is a letdown.

They're under-rating all games that are released compared to other sites.

Are they trying to be badass?

Compare them with sites like IGN , Gametrailers, etc etc..

Standards have changed since the original was released, so it's going to have a lower score. Nevermind that there's a new review system and it's probably a different reviewer this time.

would have rated a 7 back in the day just b/c I enjoyed the combat and other characters...but lead was unbearable + not much new even back then -I am a difficult grader though (no 10's as a 10 represents perfection)rawsavon

The visuals were colorful and beautiful in my eeys. The combat was fun. I liked the Grade shop. Story was hard to follow, but still an enjoyable game. I also liked how you could get costumes for the characters.

The game came out five years ago so if the only addition they made to the game doesn't add anything of value than I'd say a 7 is fair, considering the game is being released at full price. I'll probably buy it and give it another play since I won't to support to the Tales series and Abyss is one of the best imo.

Tales of the Abyss being my 2nd favorite RPG, I am going to say it should be an 8. Why? Because when they say port, the PS2 version slowed crap so people who haven't played it shouldn't complain and Europe shouldn't complain about it being a port either due to the fact that it is the only version of the game that they received.SonicNextGen2

lol I have only played ToVesperia and ToSymphonia, and both are awesome, although I prefer Symphonia. I will likely pick this one up since I have never played it.

I've never played the original and I'm looking forward to some JRPG action, though with the announcement of Xenoblade coming to North America in April, I don't know if I'll have time for this - However, I'll probably pick it up.

To those who've played it on 3DS. How do the load times compare to the PS2 version? Played Vesperia before it and the reason I quit Abyss about 3 hours in was due to the load times between battles, especially on the world map.

The 3DS version loads way faster which should be expected when its cart vs disc, but its kind of ridiculous how long it takes for the original to load one area.

its a fun game but a 40 dollar port for people who could buy this on ps2 for 20 and the fact that there are no changes. it was lucky to get a 7 with resident evil and kh ggs on the horizon. also dont say well its portable now not a good excuse due to the 3ds battery life being crap right now

I know what you mean, and you are pretty much right. That said, I think i will get it for the 3DS just cause it is portable and I would rather own it for this than an old PS2. I have not played the game before, so its fine by me. But yeah, they should have added content.

GameSpot is cracking down on Nintendo recently it seems. I wouldn't concern yourself with it. As you said, the reasons are pointless. Though I can think of some pretty obvious answers to "Who plays the 3DS for its 3D effect anyways?"
