Sorry if old but didn't see it.

"[WiiWare's] 40MB is horrible, but [3DS's] 2GB is reasonable."

Link

For comparison

Wiiware = 40MB

DSi=16MB

This is also good as most 3DS games are about that size and fits with Ninty's future retail games for Download.

Seems like the article really misquoted.

So, going by what currently available in the eshop, 200MB is allowed.

That actually seems really sizeable for the kind of games, though the 3d may make smaller games larger.. no clue about such things.

2GB is a pretty substantial game. The biggest games I have on my iTouch aren't even 1 GB, and they have a pretty extensive amount of content. Not to mention the SD card the system comes with is only 2GB. I really can't imagine any of the games coming on the eShop getting anywhere close to that.

Well its obviously going to get bigger, since Nintendo has plans to allow retails game to be sold digitally on the Nintendo Network. But as far games made specifically for the eshop, yeah I doubt too many games will need all that space.

Except for Resident Evil, as far as I know all games are under 2GB. There's is no need to increase that limit except in a couple special cases.

I've bought a 16gb card for my 3DS, but suspect i'll have to upgrade it within a year. If quality releases keep coming in.

I doubt Snake Eater is below 2GB. But most games will probably stay under that. 2GB is bigger than every Gamecube game and probably bigger than the majority of Wii games.

So far Metal Gear, Revelations, KH3D, and 1 more I think are 4GB.

Yeah, I believe Snake Eater is on a 4GB cart.

Whether it uses the full 4GB is another matter entirely, I guess.

My assumption is it probably doesn't effect the size at all. What the 3D does, is split the image into two, so the game renders it twice. If anything, the game's just have to create two images, instead of one, and that can be done simply by simple coding. Like how games do splitscreen multiplayer, except these images aren't rendering two separate instances, just a viewing angle that's "wider" with two images. It's good to hear the 3DS eShop has a larger size for games, consdering there's a lot of built-in memory and all 3DS games come with at least 2 GBs of data on hand already. I'm sure down the line, these limits may increase when full games retail on the eShop.
