So it's been a year(more or less) since the 3ds Ambassador program took effect, and I was wondering about a couple of things- First- the early price drop/trade in exploit scandal/scam/fiasco if you cared then, does it still bug you? Next- were the free games worth the cost of paying the extra 80 bucks? And finally- what games (NES and GBA) have you played the most/least and liked the best/least? The people who didn't pay the extra price, but still got the games(and the title of Ambassador) rankled the hell out of me at the time, and now, it still bugs me, though to a much lesser extent. Moreso the title(and the little badge on their home screen) than the games. It just felt like the cheapened the whole thing for the rest of us. Don't bother flaming me on this, I know it's ridiculous, but it's how I feel. Was it worth the cost? Yeah, no doubt about it. I bought the system because I felt it was(if not at launch, then would become) well worth the price. The ambassador games were an unexpected bonus, and FE: SS took all the sting out of the early(and in my opinion, premature) price drop. Played most: The Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Liked best: Yoshi, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Played least: Metroid, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap Liked least: NES Tournament Golf, Mario Kart: Super Circuit

I think we should have had the option to choose from a selection of games, cause I already had many of the ambassador games, so I was disaapointed in that way. I didn't even download all the games, but a couple were great surprises like Zelda Minish Cap and Yoshi's Island. But the one that I played most was WarioWare. :P

I really dont care whether I got ripped 80 bucks or not, since its been awhile.
also, Im gonna get a lot of criticism for this, but I thought allof the ambassador games were either all very boring, or if they weren't, the 3ds made the gba games feel very slow and 'wavy' in fps.

I was happy they gave us something, most of all I was really surprised that they even bothered. I haven't touched the games for a long time, but my favourites were: Zelda Minish Cap (my 1st 2D Zelda), Metroid Fusion (my 1st 2D Metroid), Yoshi's Island, Fire Emblem, F-Zero, Balloon Fight, Mario Golf and Mario.

Early adopters of technology (almost) always pay more for it. They do this of their own free will knowing the price will eventually drop (be it the next day or a year later). ...instead of b*tching and complaining about it, those that complain should just think of it as a price paid to enjoy the tech for however much time they owned it b/w the initial purchase and the price drop.

Right there w/ you on this one. I agreed to pay $250 for the 3DS because it was worth that much to me. That some other guy paid $170 is immaterial. They said, "Hey here's this thing we're selling. It's $250." And I said, "Here's $250." That is the agreement I made with them and it was fullfilled. At no point was it ever implied or gauranteed that the price wouldn't change in the future. I would not have been mad even if they did not give us the ambassador games. I got what I wanted which was a 3DS for $250. I acutally got more than I wanted.

I will say though that I have spent about equal time playing ambassador games as I have actual 3DS games so I'm pretty thrilled to have gotten them.

^exactly Product $x was worth $y to you at the time you bout it. If it was not worth it to you at the time, you would not have purchased it. What someone else got it for at a later date is irrelevant. It stems mostly from people's misguided idea that life is fair or should be fair. I mean I paid $125 for a diskman once. Should I be upset that those sold for like $20 several years ago?

Only beat Minish Cap. My 2nd most played was Yoshi's Island. I don't feel any guilt/anger from buying my 3DS early.

I don't have the ambassador games, but I've played nearly all the NES titles an own every one of the GBA games. Glad I didn't adopt early, I prefer to collect and restore old physical games.

Dude. We went over all that at the time. I wasn't asking for anyone to rehash the theory behind the whole debate, I wanted to know how you felt about the ambassador program a year down the line.

I still feel the same, which is that I'm happy w/ the 3DS I got at launch and am even happier that I have twenty extra games in my pocket whenever I have the thing on me. The ambassador games added a lot of value for me personally, esp. the GBA games. I am also still kinda peeved about the choices for the NES games. Balloon Fighter is a damn fun game but how do you not include that over things like Mario 3 or Kirby?

no the price never bugged me nor does it now. Hmm I don't know. i hate the choices of the nes games. I like most of the gba games and feel that overall all the gba games were solid choices. im only having fun and playing less than half of the free games. i have played and liked yoshi the most but havnt touched it since last year. i dislike the rest of the nes selections. played most for the gba are mario vs donkey kong, warioware inc, wario 4, metroid equally. the least played are f zero and surprisingly mario kart cause prior to playing it for first time ever that was my most anticipated game. liked best are the same games that i played the most. liked least are the same games plus add kirby to that list.

Only Fire Emblem, Zelda: Minish Cap, Metroid: Fusion, Wario Ware and the original Super Mario Bros. caught my attention. The rest not so much.

I still feel ripped off only in that I was two days off being able to get a price guarantee from the store I bought it from, essentially scoring the ambassador games for free. It didn't help that in Canada the price drop came early and pretty much everyone could take advantage of it.

The NES games were uninteresting besides Mario and Zelda and I am happy with the majority of GBA games. I loved playing Metroid, Fire Emblem and Minish Cap again, and I was pleasantly surprised by Kirby, Yoshi's Island and Warioware. I didn't regret being an early adopter even before the ambassador program.

[QUOTE="El_Zo1212o"] Dude. We went over all that at the time. I wasn't asking for anyone to rehash the theory behind the whole debate, I wanted to know how you felt about the ambassador program a year down the line.

see where you said the following in your OP: [QUOTE="El_Zo1212o"] I was wondering about a couple of things- First- the early price drop/trade in exploit scandal/scam/fiasco if you cared then, does it still bug you? Next- were the free games worth the cost of paying the extra 80 bucks? ... I addressed EXACTLY what you asked for in your OP What someone else got and what you received later as a bonus has nothing to do with your initial purchase. You felt it was a fair market price, and you paid it. You then got a free bonus (games) to make up for something nintendo did not need to make up for (you buying something you thought had a fair price). Then some people got the same games you got without paying the same amount you did. Once again, what another consumer gets is irrelevant. You thought it was a fair price, and you paid it...the end. The world is not fair/life is not fair. Not everyone will pay the same and get the same. It is all about you paying what YOU are willing to pay.

I bought mine after the early price drop at a Target, so I managed to get it for $169.99 and become an ambassador. So far I haven't touched the ambassador games, but I plan to play through Fusion and Minish Cap at some point.

Overall I think those games are worth it. I haven't quite played them that much, but these are 10 GBA classics that I love. Like Metroid Fusion, Fire Emblem, Yoshi's Island 2 and Minish Cap are games I really can't find at my local retailer, and now its in my 3DS. Also some NES games like the original legend of zelda, Metroid and Mario Bros., these are games I have on my Wii, but now there at the convience of being on my system. I think its world it, and it doesn't really bug me anymore. The fact is that Nintendo atleast had the respect to give us something, and many people still find that have 20 classic games on your 3DS is worth more then $80. I doubt that Microsoft or Sony would give that much compensation for an early price drop. At max I think Sony and Microsoft might just give you 1 or 2 select downloadable games. Like when PSN crashed for a few months the compensation was a select downloadable full retail game with the list being like Modnation Racers and another game I think it was either Killzone or Resistance and 1 downloadable arcade game. 20 classic games that can't be really found in retail anymore>6 months-1 year old retail games and an arcade game.

20 free games was worth the 80$ price difference imo.

How many other companies do you know that would even compensate any early adopters like this to begin with.

First - Yes, i'll never buy a Nintendo system at launch again and I already replaced it with the XL, I feel cheated from Ninty

Next - No, we got some really crap games and a lot I didn't care at all

finally - actually I haven't played any of them more than 10 minutes

Is that because you played them when they were new, tried them and didn't like them, or do you just not dig old games?

I still think it wasn't worth it. What I played the most from those games is Yoshi's Island, a game I beat like 20 times already.

Played some of them when I was younger and they're not amongst my favourites, I rather replay old Sonics than Marios. Some I never played are just plain horrible like the one with the baloons. I don't remember all of them but I do remember that some are really, really horrible
