In the word of the original thread creator:

For the Virtual Console, it's hard to recommend games due to Nintendo's huge library. With this list, people can see what popular VC games they might be missing. For WiiWare, people can evaluate how often games get downloaded by the GameSpot community, perhaps helping them in making a decision of what game to download.x_SuperMario_x

Since the last thread died, I wanted to start a new one. Let's see if we can make this one bigger than the last.
