I've always wanted to try Kingdom hearts but the use of Disney characters in the games puts me off so much I just can't bring myself to play more than fifteen minutes of it. I know I'm being closed minded, but you could you offer any insights or reasons why you enjoy the series that I can think to somehow get past this menta; block of mine. (I hate disney characters with passion and have bloody good reasons for it)

When I first heard about Kingdom Hearts, I wasn't expecting much at all and was going out of my way not to play it. About a year later I had a PS2 and the only game to play was Kingdom Hearts. After getting past judging it by its cover and actually judging it by its content, I had a blast. I think the charm comes from a combination of things. The music, the graphics, seeing legendary characters mingle (even if it doesn't make sense), the emotional storyline (again, even if it at times it seems nonsensical), and the easy, fun gameplay. I still haven't played Kingdom Hearts 2 unfortunately. I'll be getting KH: DDD day 1, though.

It has an amazing storyline for what is worth ! The fact that Disney may be seen as childish and put into such an amazing storyline is amazing. Usually though it is the Disney characters and mix of Final Fantasy that draws most fans in though !

As a kid, I went to Disneyland a lot. Also, not being turn-based helps.

Even though it has Disney, this game is not for kids. the fighting style is amazing. The game doesnt feel like your playing a 3 year old disney learning game or anything. If you give it a chance, it will be much better than expected.

Well I originally liked kingdom hearts because I liked the Idea of beating the hell out of the ff characters (Sephiroth Mainly).

Disney is actually a big part of the reason why i enjoy the game. The combat is simplistic and the story is muddled, but the the Disney "charm" really shines through, they perfectly emulate the style and atmosphere of each movie.

It's a fun & addictive RPG series, that's easy to handle. And it has a nice mixture of Disney & Final Fantasy.

My favorite part of the franchise are the characters and the storyline, but that might not be for you

Honestly Kingdom hearts was probably the only reason i got the 3ds. The story line is amazing and when you start playing the game sooner or later you start to forget about all the disney stuff nd it gets a darker feel in some games. If your planning on starting off with the kh game for the 3ds id say you need to play all the others first its a big huge fat must or you will not understand a lick of what is going on

The story is frikken awesome. So much in fact, that it's always hard to understand.

I love good stories and interesting character development, but the voices and just everything.... I really want to try it, I just can't make myself.

You can't have any good reason to hate Disney. If you think you do, you're a hipster.

Imagine you had a family member, a younger brother perhaps, that for a particular reason, would watch the same disney movie over adn over again and he would watch this movie until you switched the vcr. He would then watch that movie for days, over and over again. It grew to the point where I had, and still have, every line of nearly every disney movie memorized and at times, if people say something that parallels a line from a script, I continue and "finish" what they started hahahaha The sounds and voices and phrases just resurface at such odd times, and it's is just annoying. The timing, the tone of voice, I have it all memorized. I can't seem to forget it, even though we no longer have him watching disney movies anymore. It was a long process as he would go berserk if you took it away.... but that's the past now, but my annoyance of all that is disney remains.

I've always loved real time Rpgs and I think kingdom hearts does it quite well, that and the presentation has always been admirable to me. Though there are annoying things about the series (Disney worlds which just don't seem to work or feel hollow at times).
