i never even heard of highvoltage software before the conduit was anounced, so i looked up the company, i saw all the other games they made and i wish i did not see because it was full of flops. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Voltage_Software. I realy hope this game does better then everything else they did before.

well did you look at the history of the company, the chances of this game floping are higher then the chances of other games floping. SMG could of floped but the chances were low since nintendo usualy gives great games, but a company that has a bunch of flops the chances are much higher

Ah man, I didn't know they were the guys who made the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Video Game. That sucked some major super monkey balls. This company practically hasn't made any good games yet. (I'll go back and check to be sure) I hate to say it, but the conduit could very well flopity, flip, flap, flop.

Lets hope it doesn't.

It very well could. That doesn't mean people shouldn't continue to look forward to it.

Now, the massive hype-train (I'm looking at you IGN) could certainly slow down though...

It has a chance to floppify but since alot the previews and news related to the game have been good, I think there's a good chance it won't be a floppy game.

Haha, talking about it like crazy is one thing. Going out and putting $50 on a game after all the dust has settled on it is another. I think games like No More Heroes would agree with my assessment, too. The fact is that despite some of the efforts that the Conduit hopeful are making to hype this game, it's not going to be something that's for everyone, and that's going to be the case regardless of how good this game may actually become. There already goes a nice chunk of potential consumers, so that pretty much leaves those that are really interested in this kind of experience. Seeing as how the Wii isn't exactly established as a system with a lot of well-known names in the FPS universe, the majority of potential buyers for this game is going to fall along the lines of those that have been following the game from the get-go.

If The Conduit exceeds my expectations and becomes a rather good game, I hope it does well. Still, it has a ways to go as it stands now.

Of course you're right in your analysis, and I think Snakes on a Plane would join me and No More Heroes in agreeing with you. I'm not expecting great things considering how unrealistic the hype is ("it looks like a 360 game!") and how derivative the game is.

the team seems to have much spirit and determination. They have already used other games such as MP3 and MOH as guides.

technically speaking, the game looks fantastic. it shows they are taking this game very seriously.

Every company has to start somewhere. Retro hadn't made much of anything good before Nintendo bought them, and then they produced a masterpiece in Metroid Prime(I know Nintendo had influence, but it was still the core Retro). Frontier(Lostwinds) has never made a game I have heard of until Lostwinds(did they even make another game?) and they produced a fabulous WiiWare game.

While I do think Conduit has flop written all over it, HVS could possibly produce something great, it wouldn't be the first time that a company has gone from bad to good.

They've made quite a few other games, but the only ones I recognize most are Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 & 3 and Thrillville.

Every company makes it's fair share of bad games. You just have to look to the bright side and believe in them. Of course, some companies just can't be saved though:(.

The lack of many decent FPS's on the Wii needs sorting out as it should have more games for all gamers and shooter fans have been left for the other consoles by and large so it's great to see The Conduit in the pipeline. It has to be better than Red Steel(wwwhichI totally blame on a deeply personal level for this hole in the Wii armoury)and isn't in WW2 so there's two good things on it's side already.

it could very well flop. the devs track record isnt exactly stellar.

but they seem to be giving this alot more effort than their previous titles. im not saying its going to be great or a revolution in the FPS genre.....but it could be a very enjoyable FPS on wii (something the wii sorely lacks bar MP3). if they nail the controls and have a nice looking game thats fun to play then ill be happy. thatll be a step up from the dross available on the wii so far on the FPS front (again bar MP3....crackin game that).

deadly creatures could also flop for the same reason...but im keeping an eye on that also as i think it has great potential.

well i dont think it will flop.. HV seems very intent on pushing the wii to its full potential with this game. and from what ive seen so far, it doesnt look like they will dissapoint. the graphics look great (im not saying that theyre on par with a 360 or ps3 game, but for the wii, they look good) and that with the motion controls and various control options gives us what we've been looking for..

Oh god pleeeeeease. The Wii doesn't touch the 360 as far as graphical capabilities. There's no point in pretending otherwise. I thought we'd gotten over this sore spot by launch.

I think Marathon and the Myth series would disagree with you there, as well as the institutions that honoured them with awards.

True, but it was meant as praise. They meant it that people were double-taking it and mistaking it for a 360 game. Like, any 360 game.
