Pokemon. I thought wifi for the wii would just boost this game to very high proportions, but i guess not even a clever DS link and a wifi connection could'nt save this game. Oh well Mario Strikers might pick our wii online hopes up.Eagles931
Pokemon on the Wii is nothing more than a glorified visualizer for the DS games but sold at full retail price.

If anyone expected it to be something else, then they're the ones at fault.
[QUOTE="Gangans"]Besides where are the sales figure for this game in north america? You can't say a game has failed until you have proof of it not selling. Heck even red steel was a success.ag1052
I dont think that he meant fail in sales... more of fail as in sucking
Opinions people.....a pokemon fan may LOVE this 'failed' game. As I said before critics don't decide what game somebody likes or hates. There are a great many pokemon fans.

Well yes, but I don't think there are too many people who like, or don't like the game who disagree with the notion that the game could have been much better, if more time was spent making it.
If you're a diehard Pokemaniac, you might squeeze about an ounce of enjoyment out of PBR. If not, you should still be happy- both the disc and the case can be recycled!benjaminjoel
Oh wow, that's a little bit of an exaggeration, the game isn't that bad.

Sales numbers cant be the only thing that decide if a game is a failure... Im sure plenty of little girls have got Hanna Montana for the DS but that doesnt make it a good game

No, they're the ONLY thing that matters.
If you think otherwise ask how many exployees went to work for Clover this morning.

We are the gamers not the sales department for a game company. To us there are plenty of bad games that sold tons of copies and plenty of great games that almost no one owns. The fact is that as far as being a good start for the Wii online play, Pokemon wasnt a great choice. It doesnt matter if it sells a lot of copies or not, it was a bust just like the thread starter said.

Well in that case, whether failure can be the description of a game or not is completely subjective.

But going just by sales numbers is a bad way to judge the good games... Im sure that no matter how awful of a game Highschool musical is going to be it will be a seller. If its crappy or not should have some role in if we concider it succesful. Superman 64 sold but it was quite possiably the worst game ever on the 64.

It still makes it a popular and successful game though.
As posted earlier, leaderboards for this game would be great. i also heard about a way better online feature in strikers. There will be a leaderboard, and the Striker of the day, this should be good. Here is a link for the online features of strikers.

I'll have to agree with that. The greatest and richest in the world may have stolen all of his money, but he sure is successful.

Agree with him as far as peoples oppinion of PBR goes. If anyone bothered to read any previews they'd already know that all they're really getting is a bit of a visual update for you to do your Pokemon battling in which is really all I expect from it and am eagerly waiting for it to come out Downunder so I can get my mits on it.
I might agree though that it probably isn't worth paying full price for, but noones making you rush out and buy it - it'd be a simple enough thing to just wait for the price to get knocked down or buy it second hand from some schmuck who expected more then said visual update for it and came out bitterly disapointed.
As for how we'd go about determining the success of game well I guess it is subjective, but I'm going to lean toward sales. A crappy game can sell a whole lot of copies and be success at least to the developer and publisher or whatever. To give an example I for one am not particularly fond of the Metal Gear Solid series, but for me to say it's unsucessful would be complete and utter maddness. It's very successful. My not liking said games doesn't change that - thousands of people not liking said games wouldn't change that because a hell of a lot more people do like it then don't.
