Ever since Launch and shortly after that, Wii hasn't had many FPS titles. One exception was the fantastic Medal of Honor Heroes 2. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is more of a first person adventure.

So, it looks like there are five confirmed FPS coming to Wii soon. These games are:

Red Steel 2 - Supposedly, this game has been in development for a while now. The first game sold pretty well, even though it didn't get great reviews. A while back, I read that this game had been switched to another developer. Maybe the development cycle wasn't going too smoothly? Anyway, the game is still coming, and it could possibly be shown at E3. Maybe it could even be released later this year?

The Conduit - The exciting new project from High Voltage Software. The developer is pursuing a publisher, though isn't committing yet for quality control reasons. This game has gotten a lot of fans excited, myself included. It has been confirmed to have on-line multi-player, and the game is promised to have great visuals which will show what Wii can do graphically. It currently is set for a Q1 2009 release.

Call of Duty: World at War - This new WWII shooter will mostly take place in the pacific theatre, and will be the bloodiest and grittist game in the series next to Call of Duty 4. The Wii version will feature Zapper support and is also being developed by Treyarch. So, it should most likely be of good quality.

Quantum of Solace - Little is known about this game, and the Wii version. I do know that it will have missions based around the last movie Casino Royale, as well. I think that the Wii version is in development by a studio called "Beenox." Also, the game is set to use the Call of Duty 4 engine. It's set for a release later this year around the time that the movie comes out in November.

Brothers in Arms: Double Time - This is like a redesigned compilation for Wii. Recently a developer said that the game has actually been finished for a while now, and that they are just waiting to release it around the same time as the new Brothers in Arm game for the other consoles, which is in August. So, it seems that it will be coming soon. Hopefully it will have good controls.

So, all of these upcoming shooters should be pretty cool, and three of them are exclusive. What do you think?

The Conduit should be awesome. Red Steel 2 could be good if they take their time, as well. The others, well, I don't think James Bond shooters have ever been good on a Nintendo console.

I think they all sound kinda of .. meh.
The only ones i think that have potential are The Conduit, if the controls are done right and Red Steel 2, if ubisoft learned a lot from the first one.

The Conduit still has that bad art direction that im disliking, but if the controls turn out good, it might be a solid FPS. Red Steel 2 needs a complete overhaul of Red Steel 1 to even be considered a purchase imo.

Makers of Tony Hawk 4 and Gun for the PC... and several bad movie-to-game translations. They haven't worked on a game for the Wii yet, at least according to Gamespot's game list. I'm not expecting much out of this one, though they could surprise us.

I'm looking forward to seeing if Ubisoft learned from their mistakes in Red Steel. The game had serious potential, and it may have simply suffered from a rush job to get it out for launch. The sequel should be pretty good, assuming they fix the terrible sword fights and improve the overall game engine.

The Conduit could be awesome or mediocre... We don't know enough yet. All signs point to a generic shooter, but that would be a fairly unique game on the Wii at this point, so who knows.

Call of Duty should be decent, though I've played enough of World War 2. Let's make up new wars for a change. Like alternate realities. Get creative.

I'm not sold yet on any of those games. They're sounding good, but we still have yet to see if they're living up to the hype.

Muahahaha! You all fell right into my trap!

No, but seriously, I've probably played 100+ hours of Goldeneye multiplayer, and I never even owned the cartridge. If Quantum of Solace follows in its footsteps, the that'd be awesome. Then again, it isn't being made by 90's Rare.

I was never excited for CoD Wii, but after reading how they're actually trying to make it unique (like Zapper support), and most importantly not just a PS2 port, I'm actually really interested in it now.

There really is a lack of effort in the FPS department on Wii and it should change.

I'm hoping they don't screw up red steel 2. I liked the first one, but it was definitely lacking. There's much to improve. Conduit could go anyway, but even if it sucked, at least we'll have something else to add to our small list of fps.

Since when did the N64 have a dual analog controller?

To OP, I believe the new James Bond game is actually going to be third person and not first person.

EDIT: My bad, just read up that it is first person with third person elements.

The Conduit is the only game that has my interest right now, most of those (exception of RS2) would just be "just be thankful you have one" type of ports, as for Red Steel 2 the game has no info as of this moment, but Ubisoft seems to be taking their time with this one, this could be their "apology letter" to wii owners(unless if they would make a "Real" Rayman Platformer) for the wii

goldeneye was developed by rare(owned my microsoft now) with nintendo's help, but nowadays, the franchise is owned by EA which makes crappy James Bond games.

I hope that Ubisoft really works diligently on Red Steel 2. The first one was pretty sketchy in terms of gameplay, control response, graphics, and voice acting.

I thought Red Steel was a pretty good game for being a launch title, but I'm hoping That Red Steel 2 will be much better than the first.

goldeneye had 8 control setups 4 were setup for dual analog, plenty o'toole, **** galore, dominique derval, and holly goodhead, if anyone still has a 64 and a copy of golden (emus just dont cut it for me) try one of those, setups its like early dual shooters, move/turn, aim/strafe

edit: hmm it seems i cant type that word, hopefully i dont get in trouble since its a bondgirl name

Ugh... I sure hope that's not all.

  • Red Steel sucked. Can we expect anything better from a sequel?
  • Conduit will push the Wii technically but that's it. Like Wii gamers should know, there are more important things than graphics. High Voltage has never made a quality game.
  • There are three major things wrong with CoD: World at War. First of all it's multiplatform, how often is the Wii version superior? It will most likely be a PS2 port with Wii controls strapped on it. Secondly, it's another WW2 shooter. I got tired of them back in 2004. Last but not least, it's developed by Treyarch.
  • Like you said, very little is known of the game but I'm already ready to doom it: it's multiplatform and will just be a movie spin-off. Except for Chronicles of Riddick and GoldenEye, how many great spin-off games are there actually?
  • Brothers in Arms should die already. We already have enough WW2 shooters. And waiting months for release even when the game is ready sounds rather shady. Gearbox probably hopes for Hell's Highway to increase the sales of another shoddy port.

Well conduit should be fun. Call of Duty sounds like it will be good its just i dont want another WWII shooter. Oh and im excited for the james bond game because i loved Nightfire. I have never liked Brothers in Arms they are like the worst WWII makers imo. Red Steel 2 i dont if its going to be good or bad.
