Pretty much the same that's happening to it as we speak:

A slow and painful demise.

Nah..2011 turned out quite good for the wii. Im looking forward to Skyward Sword, and Rayman Origins. Also it got MW3 which was really unexpected, even though imo if you allready got reflex and black ops there is no need to get this one. (although i got all 3). Also Driver San Francisco looks good. Conduit 2 was fun for a while aswell and lets not forget Xenoblade (for some of us) For 2012 it looks darker. I guess we will get all the usual sport games that never seem to die, lika fifa for example thats still being released for PS2 which is way "more dead" than the wii. Other then that im guessing there is still going to bee some WiiWare games in 2012, and also this year we had a lot of good WiiWare like MotoHeroz.. For those wo are fans maybe Dragon Quest X will be out in 2012 (in english that is).

I think it will still be popular, but Wii U will take more of it's place.

The Wii is already dead.meetroid8

Correct answer

Nintendo has been done with the Wii for a while now, not much is going to change once the new console is out since Nintendo already acts like the Wii is their last gen hardware anyhow.

The system itself will slowly fade away. However the idea of the Wii and such will just be Evolving into the Wii U. Since the Wii U plays Wii Games and still uses the Wii Mote the original Wii will still live on through the Wii U via Wii Motes and its games.

What happened to Gamecube after Wii? What happened to N64 after Gamecube? What happened to SNES after N64? What happened NES after SNES?

What happened to Xbox after Xbox 360?

What happened to PS2(games wise) after PS3? Nothing but a bunch of Madden ports, because EA loves milkage. I think they're still releasing every new Madden on the Sega Genesis by now.

What happens to the Wii? It dies, developers move to the next console, And Wii will not have legs like PS2, as the Wii already slowed down.

PS2 was more dead than Wii when it stated winding down? Son, I think you're not paying much attention. The last year or year leading into the end of the PS2, it had Kingdom Hearts 2, God of War 2, Rockstar porting Vice City and Liberty City stories to it, Shadow of the Colossus and some more stuff. Not to mention the PS2 did 100mil+ and had a constant stream of constant blockbusters through it's whole span.

I think you missunderstood me. I ment that PS2 is more dead then the Wii in 2011 and still got Fifa 2012, to point out that games like fifa keep coming out even for the "dead" consoles. But i am aware of that PS2 was more alive the last year of its life than wii is now in 2011 (which seems to be last year for wii).

I count 13 games. Most of which are simply average. Sorry, but that is downright pathetic.

Yeah too much meh and party games. It's really Zelda and Xenoblade in terms of great Wii games this year, and Kirby if it comes out.

Next year, I'll pick up Last Story and maybe Rayman after it flopped. And then... it will be over. 2010 was probably its best year, but it was also its last hurrah. I live in EU, which still had Xenoblade, Epic Yarn and Chrono Trigger for the first time on a PAL console, but it was still rather bad. Even with Zelda still coming. And the time until WiiU is going to be worse.

Looking at the support, it has no future as soon as its successor will arrive. Just like N64 and GCN.

^ Mario Party tends to slip the mind, yes. It's probably better to not mention it when talking about the finer points of the Wii.

Oh lord get over it already, they're available for you to play, if you don't want to do whats perfectly legal then you don't want the games bad enough, so your complaints are pointless.

I don't think any console will have legs like the ps2 did ever again. (or perhaps the wii was an extention of the ps2's legs yuk yuk yuk) Seriously though if a console that has nearly 90 million in sales can't keep moving long after the creator moves on I think it's more of a reflection of the consumer mind set as opposed to the way developers are viewing the system.

You forgot the DS version of Chrono Trigger...

And yes,the Wii is slowly dying, but with Skyward Sword, and The Last Story & Pandoras Tower in PAL regions,it will go out with a bang.
