"You know I'm real appreciative of the fine work you're doing, but I'd sure you wish you'd tone down the property damage a bit. Not really sure what those are."
That one quote, in addition to the rolling barrel that goes right through the object that's sticking above the ground 51 seconds into that video, sums up how The Grinder is going to turn out.
graphics wise, it looks pretty good... everything else... looks like digimon world 4 without brand recognition.
Well that is the 360 version apparently. I hope they stick with the L4D ripoff, cause I thought The Conduit was a pretty decent game (Loved the controls.) I even loved playing Hunter: The Reckoning with family and friends cause that was just an awesome co-op game (boring as hell solo.) But looking at that, I only thought "...what the !%@^? They hell did they do to the game?!" The only thing that could've made H:TR better was make it first person, which looked like what they were doing...kinda.
Wow. Well...those certainly are two different games. Not interested in either but boy, I have not seen a top down shooter like that in forever and a day.
I really like what they did. I knew grinder wasn't going to work out well. And from their work so far it is clear that they can really use some experience. This seems like a really smart move. The top down shooter genre doesn't get much attention on the wii (well what genre does...) and i think it's a good idea if they first try to make the best top down shooters ever, before moving on to crazy ideas.
I have a theory that The Grinder on 360 is Animales de la muerte. Remember that game that was supposed to come on Wiiware. Animales de la muerte (made by High Voltage) was supposed to be like that. I have a feeling they scrapped Animales de la muerte but kept the concept to make The Grinder on 360.
See what I'm talking about : Animales de la muerte : http://wii.ign.com/objects/142/14249517.html
I actually like how the new one looks, I like the original better but the new design at least on the HD consoles looks similar to Hunter: The Reckoning and I'd get it if it turns out to be like it but by the looks of that, it looks more along the lines of Alien Syndrome. As I stated earlier, I like some top down Shooters such as Hunter: The Reckoning, Loaded, Shock Troopers and others. But I hope the Wii version stays FP with the 4 player online co-op story mode etc. If they change the Wii version, then I will be upset, and that is a high possibility especially seeing the travesty that is Tournament of Legends. They broke my heart when they turned Gladiator AD into that mess.
It looks more like iDracula for the iPhone now, which I think was also released as a WiiWare game recently (maybe under a different name... it's by Chillingo).
Edit: Yeah, check it.
I also highly doubt that there will be a completely different version for the Wii. The difference in viewpoint would force them to pretty much make two entirely different games with very little shared between them. Unless their publisher is REALLY generous, I don't see that happening.
Are they on crack? o.o
Pixel-Perfect
According the the posts, that's the HD console version, which looks horrible!
I never hyped The Grinder because, come on. It's HVS.
But from that trailer, it looks really good.

then why didn't they make Animales De La Muerte for the 360?

Better yet, why did they decide to scrap it? It looked very interesting to me.
Huh, now that I've seen the videos I'm not to sure how I feel...
The fps grinder looked absolutely awful imo, it was trying to be something amazing like LFD2 but their was no way it was gonna pull it off.
At least as a top down shooter it can compete/survive instead of ultimatley falling short like the conduit did and ending up as a super mediocre fps and as a result super mediocre sales.
Last time I checked the conduit had like maybe 300,00 sales worldwide and whoever said wii games sell better in the long run should check the charts on that game because its monthly sales have been dropping super fast since release :| No wonder HVS and Sega went multiplat and switched direction, from a buisness view it was definetly the better decision!
People, it hasn't been announced if the Wii version will be a top down shooter >.> , so calm downPices
I definitely appreciate the small group out there who share this sentiment of optimism. I hope to god you're right!!! :D
But yo aren't. there is no way the Wii version will be FPS. Now that they made the switch with the other two versions (which shouldn't even exist in the first place btw) there is no reason for them to keep the old design. the Wii version is going to get turned into a watered down port of the 360 version which in itself is a watered down port of the Wii's original version.
As a very wise man says: "What a s*** load of F***"

Because his words actually makes sense.
This is High Voltage Software we're talking about. They don't have any loyalty to any system and don't care about the cosumer or the quality of their games. They are developing M rated shovelware.
They won't take their time and effort just to save the original Wii version from being a generic top down shooter. The moment the HD versions was announced was the moment the original game died.
hahaha.... wow it looked kinda bad in the first one, but the 2nd one.......... not only does it look horrible, but laughable as well.
my question is.... will there still be UNPRECEDENTED WII ACTION?!?!
Umm, guys the GDC trailer isn't for the Wii. If you look at the buttons, those are the A's on the 360 controller. It wasn't announced that the Wii version will be the same as the PS3 and 360 ones, which the GDC trailer showed off
Even if it might not have been as graphically magnificent as some offerings on other systems, I was still intrigued by The Grinder as an FPS. I'm a Wii only owner, so something like L4D would be welcomed by me.
But this is new crap they've turned it into is just insulting. Count me out. :(
it's not bad graphicwise, but wth would you make it that style. 4 player co-op FPS is so much better then well THIS. Just leave it your changing too much now.FPS1337
But to think about it, I MA3D A G@M3 W1TH Z0MB13S IN IT!!!!11!!!! did pretty well (even though it wasn't the very least bit original wtf?)... Probably this could be the next step to the FUTUR.. nah it would suck
