The Wii has a major problem. It's not the graphics, its not the motion control, and its not the nearly useless internet browser.

It's the Gamecube Flashback inducing lack of third party games. In the time that the Wii has been out, how many top notch games have there been?

Zelda, Metroid, Super Paper Mario, and maybe Wario-Ware.

Thats it!? 3 Classic Franchises, then 40 thousand crappy movie Tie-ins. Where is our Gears of War? Oblivion? Darkness? You have to look no further then the launch titles of the systems. The only thing good for Wii was Zelda , a GAMECUBE port (which to be fair was enough reason for me to buy the system), at least the other systems have tried for new material... And here we are, almost a year later, and still no developers doing anything worthwhile. I don't want a barnyard game, I don't want a Surf's up game, and I definitely don't want a Flushed away game.

I don't regret buying my Wii, I regret that now I have nothing to buy for my Wii...

Yeah, thats one of the games I included as good, but only 4 AAA titles in a year is incredibly weak.

Do you understand how the world works TC? The 360 got a one year head start, so obviously they had 100% of the next gen market share, so devs were primed for it. The PS3 coming off the sucess of the PS2 was expected to quickly leap frog to the front of the pack(completely WRONG) but still the thought process. Therefore devs were already working on PS3 games, the Wii was expected to settle in a DISTANT third again. Therefore devs had no plans for the system. They are just catching up, you ask where is Gears of War and stuff like that. Well those games take a long time to develop so we wont see things like that until the end of this year and next year. While movie tie ins which can be thrown together in a few months are easily put on the market. So theres the answer to your question.

while im not sure this belongs in this forum Ill go ahead and entertain you anyways first off that was four games you mentioned also as long as we are including gamecube ports go ahead an put RE4 down on the list and thats five and by theway the 360 only had 2 worthwhile games at this point in its lifeand niether would have been out yet also the wii definitly has more great games than the ps3 at the moment so really at this pont you should just go ahead and play metroid or pick up RE4 and play through that on the wii

third parties are starting to put their hats in. And I mean BIG third parties.

It takes time to switch over projects though and it would be foolish to try to port to it. Give them some time to wrap up the games they have in production and you'll see great titles coming through the woodworks.

P.S. those are all 1st party titles you picked. The really great 3rd party games are re4, rayman, and madden (i said it)

I have been refuting these threads this year by saying it's too early to tell and give Wii some time because it takes awhile to make agood game and most 3rd parties are just now getting started on jumping on the bandwagon so it'll take another year to a year and a half for the great titles to start popping out.

If it is this time next year or maybe by the end of 08 and still no good 3rd party games have been released or at least announced then I'll start to worry.

Huh, since when?

Besides, the years not over. We still have BWii 2, Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Lets not forget some other fun games already on the the system like, say, the defiinitive version of Resident Evil 4, The Godfather, SSX Blur, Excite Truck, Mario Strikers Charged.

We also have some other promising titles coming out soon like Zack & Wiki, Dewey's Adventure, No More Heroes, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Guitar Hero III, Manhunt 2, Soul Calibur Legends...

You obviously haven't been doing your homework. This console is far from dissapointing.

As you may have noticed, the majority of the games I mentioned above are in fact 3rd party titles...

Seat back and wait for games because complaining about games not coming out for a few months is useless. They will come when they come.

I sympathize with your plight. There does seem to be a lack of decent non-Nintendo titles for the Wii. The only good games are from established franchises. You've mentioned them all (actually, I'm tempted to remove Zelda from your list seeing as how it's a Gamecube title). However, let's refrain from moaning until after the system's been out for a full year. If the oncoming flood of games being released in October and November doesn't include some quality games, then we can amp the volume of our complaints.

Yeah my boss seems to be in the same boat. He is the one telling me not to buy a Wii as well, and at the moment I've got to agree with him. I went round his house and we played the Wii for about 15mins before we got bored and moved onto the 360.

I really want to get one but Im worried I'll get it and be completely bored straight away like I was when I played my bosses'.

Yeah I agree also. Although I just bought Metroid 3 and its pretty cool. Loved Zelda too. I think Nintendo is like this now. Most games will come from Nintendo and for me its worth it. I keep hoping they will release a new Starfox that is like the NIN64 version. I canthelp myself but keep playing the new Zelda, Mario, and Metroid. The system is cool enuff, but if you are a true hardcoregamer, you should also have a 360 or ps3 to supplement.

I rented three games this last weekend. Shrek the Third, Tiger Woods, & Mario Party 8. I thought all of them where lack luster in quality. Shrek made my sick with the motion. Sort of like Wolfinstein 3D, Doom & Dark Forces does. That motion sickness stuff. I just do not like the Mario Party games or that style of game. Just can not get into it. Tiger Woods will get better in the future, but for now still seems like EA is working out how they want the game to go on the wii. Wii sports is awsome and shows the great potential of the system. I also thought the Wii enhances Gamecube games well. So the thing with me is the potential and my expectations of the system. What new and unique games will utilize this controller scheme and style. I say give the developers a good year before the good stuff starts rolling out on the shelfs.
