THE legend of zelda it has everthing mario does not

Clearly The Legend of Zelda, more immersive, it has more depth, a better storyline, more variety, at least as much challenge, better combat (obviously), and a more open world. That and the average Zelda game takes 10 times as long to beat as he average Mario game. Zelda is in my humble opinion gaming bliss, I really don't think we can perfect gaming any further than games like Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, or Twilight Princess. Speaking of which playing Twilight Princess for a 3rd time sounds fun... later, I've got other games to beat for the first time.
it depends. I think they are 2 different games. but overall i would say zelda.
Mario is great for plane rides and is really fun. It's just plain fun. That's about it.
Zelda just sucks you in to the game so you feel like you are Link and have to finish the quest. Alot of the dungeons can be very chalenging to go through, and they make you use your brain.
To put it simply the Zelda series has better & more depth in story & plot that can actually captivate (compare to the Mario series). And more toys to play with.
Since when has Zelda ever provoked deep thought? It's an ACTION ADVENTURE... not an RPG... The series has always had a minimalist story, and the same gameplay formula for years, there is no deep thought involved at all:P
Mario series > Zelda series, because despite both having minimalist stories and the same villian over an over, at least Mario keeps innovating.
I prefer the Mario franchise; I've had a much better time with the franchise overall than the Zelda franchise.
I'd have to go with Mario on this one. The biggest reason being that I can still play almost every Mario game and still have fun to date. With Zelda, I beat the game and I'm done with it untill I forget most of it so that I can enjoy a second play through. I have very little insentive to go back and collect everything. With Mario, I go the extra mile and try my very best to see everything in every level.
Mario games last forever (Infinate replayability)
Zelda games are one shot affairs
Both are some of the greatest video game franchises in existance
I'm on the Mario side of this ever-going arguement. Don't get me wrong; both series are special in their own ways. That being said, it's something about the best Mario games that brings the real joys of being a gamer out of you whenever you play it. It's amazing how the series' formula has lasted so long the way it is and still manages to blow you away with each new installment. I'm not even sure if Zelda has provided that same impression lately, given the reaction towards games like Twilight Princess and even Phantom Hourglass, to a degree. Mario's best games tend to all have those qualities that make it approachable and enjoyable for anyone, as well. Easy to pick up and play, challenging enough to keep you coming back for more, and with worlds that are always a blast to play in, Mario never seems to fail when it comes to what it does best. Who needs storyline and depth when you can have plenty of fun without them?
As someone that played both Super Mario Bros. AND Super Mario Galaxy over the weekend, I can say that the plumber still has it in a way no one else does. :P
I like both Zelda and Mario, butI like Mario more because it is whatI grew up with and I was later introduced to Zelda. But both are great games.

Summed it all up
Zelda stopped being relevant in 1998
Mario still gets the work done and he's still the workhorse for the console.
To tell you the truth, this subject is very on the fence. I did a topic like this i believeclose towhen SMG came out, and the response was a big Mario. Now that a new Zelda is coming out, we have a bigger response of Zelda. For me though, I have alwase been a hardcore Zelda Fan. It will alwayse be my fav. series! No matter how many OOT clones they make *cough*TP*cough*
I would be willing to play OoT clones every day for the rest of my life if they just kept improving graphics and changing the story a bit. It's just that good of a game.To tell you the truth, this subject is very on the fence. I did a topic like this i believeclose towhen SMG came out, and the response was a big Mario.
