I finally found it for a decent price, $50 new, and i bought it....but i have not opened it yet. Seeing how it fetches almost $100 at many online retailers, i wonder if i should just keep it shrink wrapped and put it away somewhere safe. What do you think?

Depends if you really want to play it. I don't think it's worth not playing it just to potentially make 40-50 bucks down the line. Opening one "rare" game isn't going to ruin you. It'll probably still fetch a decent price even if you open it.

It is a collector's item. It's a pretty damn good deal.

Yes, its a collectors item at this point, being that it was discontinued 8 months ago, after only being available for 4 months. Try to find them online now, its impossible unless they are from auction or private seller sites. And for new and sealed, it can go for 70 to 100 bucks.

That being said, there are still some out there at retailers if you get lucky. I live in a small town in AZ with aparently very few Metroid fans. I was able to pick one up at our local Wal Mart last week, and they still have two copies left. Very lucky on my part, being that I didn't know it was disconinuted until a few days before I bought it.

Buy 2 of them. Enjoy one, store the other for years in a safe place.
