Eh, it may turn out alright. According to IGN's new hands-on preview, it plays a lot like Power Stone, which I always enjoyed back in the day. And besides, it's not like traditional Castlevania games on the consoles have been all that great lately anyway (Curse of Darkness, I'm looking at you), so why not take a chance? The_Pig_Hostage
hell yeah! man those games were fun
Here's an email I recieved about this game:
(I'm not revealing who sent it so don't ask)
Re: Castlevania Judgement aye heres some of the screens. can't remember where i saw the others.

it doesn't seem very great.. looks kinda like the opposite transition of soulcalibur legends (BAD Game). the wii isn't gonna belt out very good graphics. and if your a fan of some of the previous castlevania games the characters look a little...different. Powerstone was great because of the gameplay 4 ppl tons of items interactive objects levels power ups. This gameplay doesn't look very spectacular and from what i hear it isn't.
Me personally, I'd have to disagree with this person on the Castlevania part but apparently it's already out in Japan, meaning it's past the alpha development phase. I'll have to try this game out before I can down it because it doesn't sound like this guy has ever played it and he's just going off someone elses opinion.
I asked this before when did Konami make a fighting game before this? I have a feeling it will be a flop. chris3116
Are you honestly asking this? Wow. Well, since you must know, Konami made TMNT: Tournament FIGHTERS for the SNES and Genesis. They were 2 different games completely. The Genesis one was not all that great but the SNES version rivaled that of Street Fighter and KOF. The SNES version was simply awesome. They had specials, Max Guages for S Desperation Moves and Everything a great fighter has. Another fighter/adventure game they've made was TMNT: Turtles in Time (That game speaks for itself and just oozes -no pun intended- awesomeness, and YES, it DID have a VERSUS mode on it). For that matter, Konami made the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube versions of 3D Cell Shaded TMNT 1, 2 & 3. 1 and 2 were great but 3 Allowed for the gameplay that the new Castlevania is supposed to have. Full 3d movement with weapons and power-ups, oh, and it's 4players too if you must know. Konami has much experience with this type of gameplay and can and has pulled it off successfully.

[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]Why is Mario in an RPG?
Why is Mario driving a Go Kart?
Why is Mario in a fighter?????
Because we know how much they sucked, right?

Your analogy = epic phail
It actually makes complete sense. You take a beloved platforming franchise and expand it to other genres succesfully, why can't an RPG franchise be expanded to a fighting game? There's no reason to assume it'll suck just because it's something you didn't expect.

Castlevania is not an RPG franchise...

You are sooo Correct on this. Most RPG's would make for Awesome Fighters. I mean who wouldn't want a Xenogears Fighting Game or a Chrono Trigger Fighting game? Those would be awesome if done correctly. Take the Final Fantasy franchise for example, Square created Ehrgeiz, I personally think that game was an awesome free fighter that allowed for hours of gameplay on end. Yet Square also made Tobal No. 1 which kinda flopped so it just depends on if the company fully works on it to get it as perfect as they possibly can.

Difference being, Mario games are able to succeed and evolve in their original genre before branching into others. Castlevania is a different story. While the 2D games are great, all of the 3D games have been less than stellar.

There's no difference.
Mario was nothing but a fantastic 2D game and only a fantastic 2D game when they decided to make him drive go karts and star in an RPG.

At the time Mario RPG introduced alot of new RPG like time attacked sequnces
Mario Kart Was new because it was like no other racing game at the time
Super Smash Brothers was Good Because it Threw Chacters From ALL Nintendo Francises in there and it was simple to play.
But The Mario sucked at baseball, soccer,Education,The Hotel Buseiness,Partying, basketball, and dancing.
But Castlevania has no buiseness in the fighter genre

OK, so Mario racing is awesome, Mario RPG'ng is awesome and you say that Smash has everyone in the game. Well ummmm, how many of those characters were from fighting games?
None?
OK!
Mario's had tons of spinoffs where all of them are solid games and most are great if not better.
But no, you say that Castlevania will be awful because it's not a genre the series normally is, because you really do have a lot to back that up.

Except Mario was able to transition into 3D without having to be in a completely different genre to be successfull.

That has nothing to do with the topic though?
This whole discussion is built on this game being bad because it's not the same genre. I've given numerous examples on how classic characters with new genres have worked while the thread creator has ummm, passed on the opportunity.
2D to 3D is still platforming. If the new Castlevania was a 3D action adventure game the thread creator wouldn't be complaining, it's the genre change he's complaining about.
