The Wii is soo much beter than most other consoles. Look at its cool launch titles such as The Ledgend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Call of Duty 3, and Rayman Raving Rabbids ( I own those games.) I stood in line at the Nintendo World store at Rockefeller Center in New York for 5 hours from 5:00 A.M to 9 A.M just to get a Wii. It was totally worth it. Look at the Wii's features. You can connect it online and look at the news and weather forecasts, you can buy oldskool games such as Super Mario World, The Ledgend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, and other cool games, and you can play any of the Wii's titles! I remember when I got my first gaming console, The N64. That was back in 1996. Things have sure changed since Then!

No doubt. I think it's the best inventions of a console ever, like the Eye Toy. What top fun that was when it came out, but the novalty will wear off. I think it should get the best console of this Next Gen, cause Sony and Microsoft are to much at each other throats saying that their consoles are better, when the Wii just makes you apart of the game, trually amazing I say.

What will it be in 5 years from now, Nintendo Reality :) Il like Nintendo and their innovative philosophy. They always try to bring something new and most of the time it works. I remember back in the day with their Powerglove and Gun. Ninty is still here alive and kicking, yeah!!

Yeah i really like nintendo, they really think about what they want to do. Not just like Sony who just says "Ok lets build a supercomputer that can show ultrarealistic graphics", but they forgot about the most important thing the fun factor.

i'd love to check out nintendo world one of these days. Even more so would be the Nintendo headquarters. A year or so ago there was an ebay auction for a charity that you could go into Nintendo's headquarters and get a tour, that would be awesome.

yeh gaming in general has forgotten abou tthis. THey are all concerned about graphics, realisim and all this stuff but not about a fun factor. Games use to show uniqueness in the producers art and presentation, had some comical relief and not with a lot of games you don't really see any of that, it's just a race to see who can make the most realistic whatever.

You've never played a game at HD resolutions with 4x FSAA / 16x AF, HDR, and 5.1 digital surround sound on a 26"+ monitor before if you can so easily dismiss graphics and sound. Right now though you can't have HD-graphics and sound inexpensively - even if the console was free, the sound system and HDTV will run you at least $700. Nintendo has done a good job making a console for the masses - my only complaint is that in all the "mass appeal" Nintendo has created a poor experience for the core gamer. For all the talk of "innovation" all of the games on system other than Twilight Princess and Wii Sports are utterly mediocre. Yes, you're using the Wiimote, but the *gameplay* - the very thing responsible for the "fun factor" reeks of "generic title - new controls". DBZ reminded me heavily of the first time I played on the PS1, Red Steel is like Enter the Matrix sans the cool factor (not that EtM was anything more than average), and even the mighty Twilight Princess is a Gamecube port with, frankly, worse sound coming through the Wiimote speaker. Even the high-scoring Rayman Raving Rabbids felt too much like N64 party games to me... perhaps after hundreds of hours playing such party games I'm simply burnt out on the idea.
I'm not keen to bash the Wii here - but it does feel like an introductory system right now, which may be fine. Perhaps that is its place in the market - spending $500+ on A/V equipment is not for everyone, nor are games intended for hardcore gamers. My view is obviously affected by a lifetime of gaming - games that would have amazed me on the Wii if it were my first or second system barely get my attention - my bar is set high. I have hope though, the Wii has Mario Galaxy and Animal Crossing - we'll have to see what Nintendo does with them.

Yeah I really agree. In my opinion you can divide games in two categories:

-Fun games -Challenging games Sony and microsoft has forgotten about the "Fun games" and only make challenging games like GoW, Halo and pretty much all shooters. Nintendo however have now started to create both fun and challenging games.

I own a Wii and a Xbox 360, and i like them both equally. The Wii has alot of cool unique stuff for it, and the 360 has cool games that i can't play on the Wii so it's a toss up for me. I also plan on getting a Ps3 down the line as well.

Not very good examples of games. TP is on GC, Call of Duty 3 is on all three next gen consoles, and Rayman Raving Rabbids is also on PS2.

Yes the wii is proly the best gaming platform that nintendo has released but u cant blame nintendo if 3rd parties cant make a good game. well we should at least be happy that companies are interested in making games for the wii, more than the g-cube. this is a good start.

I have to agree, though, for my liking, its mainly due to the fact it has virtual console service.

Otherwise - unit Nintendo Wii has continuing library of solid 3rd party support, along with having quantity of games that can rival PlayStation 2 library, I do not think Nintendo will be able to claim that kind "honor."

Beat me to it, but Rexoverbey got it right.

  • You can connect it online, but you can't do much with it like...I don't know, play games.
  • You can look at weather and news on your computer.
  • The VC titles are sometimes a little overpriced. You can buy a collection (ex. Genesis Collection) for 20 bucks or less and it includes 25+ games.
  • I suppose you mean you can play any Gamecube title, and while that's not bad, backwards compatibility isn't new and the 'cube' library is argueably limit.

I remember my first gaming console...the Atari 2600, yes things sure have changed, hmm but for the better, I don't know. Where's my copy of E.T. at?

Wii, in my non-biased opinion, is the best console out there right now. I don't see anything that even comes close to interesting me enough to get a Playstation 3. I own an Xbox 360 and I think it's an excellent console, although that's mostly due to how awesome Xbox Live is. Although I still play the 360 occasionally, it's gathering dust a hell of a lot quicker than the Wii. I'm on that thing practically every day.

I still to this day find myself in awe of how cool the console is. Hell, just a few days ago I got a strange look from my girlfriend as I petted the Wii-remote and told it that I "loved" it. I've never done that with any other console, besides maybe the DS. The Wii just has so much more going for it. It's always being updated with new channels, new VC games, and it's got a very healthy list of future games. Oh, and it's got an incredibly innovative new way to play video games. What's not to love about the Wii?
