The NIntendo Wii?Does it REALLY deserve to be on the top?

The nintendo wii yeah you know the so called "Casual system" But the wii owners barley own any games some people do (Like me) look at sig!BUt let me as you do you think wii deserves to be #1 in console buisness.

Yes, they deserve to be on top because they made the most innovative console this generation and the Wii has games for everyboby instead of just the "hardcore gamer" that sony and microsoft only focus on.

QFT. Personally, I prefer my PS3 over the Wii (don't get me wrong, I like the Wii too) or any other console, but I've got to give Nintendo credit where credit is due. With this console the appealed to EVERYBODY, not just the kids and hardcore gamers like other consoles had.

tricky question but business is like this. if you are on top, you always ,always deserved it, because you managed to be on top.Is not a granted thing nor an election made by a group of judges.No matter what you did to be on top(as long as is within the rules).To be on top means it sold, it was succesful to sell.So it deserves it. just like SNES deserved to be on top, PS1 and PS2 deserved to be on top.its more than a factor but the sum of them all, quality, advertising, innovation, products, presentation and hardware.If the other consoles, for some reason or another ,arent in top, is because they failed to achieve the status and thus dont deserve it. Is like a boxer beating another to the ground and ask:did he deserve to win?.well..doh,yeah.

It deos deserve to be on top because it is selling really great and it has alot of great games.

I feel that, here in the UK, most Wii owners are casual. Compare the Wii sales to the 360 and PS3 and it would appear the casual market is just as big as the regular gaming market. Because Nintendo saw the opportunity to explore this new expansive market and make mass hardware sales, they genuinely deserve to be where they are now.

There is no doubt Shiggsy has had to smoke crazier and crazier bongs of weed to get them where they are now. That kind of employee dedication makes them deserve it.

From a marketing standpoint, it deserves its spot. It chose a target market that the other consoles weren't focusing on as much and excelled there. The hardware is perfectly suited for its primary audience as it helps bring down the cost to purchase it, which its target market would be content with as it is just a side-hobby.

From a gaming standpoint, I don't think it deserves its spot at all. The lack of qualitysoftware support hurts its longevity and I know that personally I'm thinking of actually selling it, which I've never done with any system (at least not by choice). It doesn't have the same quality library of games that the other consoles do, and it is severely lacking in some genres (RPGs), while simultaneously being overloaded by other, usually lower quality genres (minigames and on-rails shooters). If you like those, good for you. But I'm sure you will admit that, in general, those are a lot cheaper and easier to make than games like RPGS or sandbox games, both of which are in scarce supply on the Wii. I personally would put the 360, but I can't do that definitely as I don't have enough experience with the PS3.

From a long-term view, I think things could easily change, whether it is in this generation or, much more likely, the next. The Wii has undoubtedly attracted more people to the gaming market; however, the majority of the new "gamers" it has attracted likely don't put much time into it and don't support the software side. They may or may not purchase the next Nintendo console. On the other hand, the traditional gamer, who plays from generation to generation and buys more than the occasional game, has, on a general basis, turned away from the Wii. Unless something dramatically changes, I can not see Nintendo's next console selling well at all to that market. If they don't buy the next Nintendo console, then it is possible that 3rd party support will actually drop further. I say this because the "core" crowd that typically buys games will be gone and most of which will be left will be the casual gamer who rarely buys games. Of course this is all just mere speculation, but this is what I can see happening.

Yer, they do deserve to be on top..GC was largely an untap potential that got lost...they took a gamble with Wii & initally eveyone was shooting them down even game devs (some still are now) BUT who's laughing all the way to the bank now?

Nintendo made the most innovative console of all three and took a great risk at making it. Imagine what would had happened if people wouldn't liked it's new control and everything new in it? They took a risk and they won.

No, it does not deserve to be on top. It has a poor selection of good games, everything about it is cheap from its online play to its motion sensor bar, it requires you to buy space-consuming peripherals to play most games, most of the focus seems to be on downloading news/whether/videos rather than games, online gaming and system memory as it should be, and it is just all around lagging behind the technology and power of the other systems, but still drags in more money.

Honestly, no no it doesnt. I own a whole pile of what are considered to be the best games for the system and still find myself wishing I just had a ps3 with the game I actually want to play like street fighter 4 and resident evil 5.

I do think that this is going to change in the future tho because of games like little king's story, grand slam tennis and muramasa but that wont be for another couple months.

I really like that wii is a console that is more family oriented. It is a nice alternative to ps3/xbox360/pc. It's a great system for kids, and kids should be playing video games!

i dont know if people realize this but every time nintendo reported sales in the last gen , they were in the red,

but this gen they make a profit on every wii sold,

and thats over 50 million wiis of profit lol this doesnt include the games and accessories

and the dslite ds/dsi which has sold 100 plus million

and its games, nintendos dominance is proven this gen more then ever

japan may be seeing wii slow down , in the us its a different story ,

same for other bigger territories, and i think from the article iwata understands injapan they must do somthing and by god they will i just know it

lets look in the past what has nintendo done for its fans

1 they listened to the one complaint-online play- they got it on wii

2 they listened about the storage solution you can now download and play games directly from sd and use larger ones to ,

3 they rebound from almost any flop, vb any one lol , and theyve only had 1 flop commercailly-the vb

4 , , they always made a profit -except last gen

5 they gained 3rd party respect

6 they pushed the control limit just to make wii sell like hot cakes and make us angry because we couldnt find one lol today was the first time in 3 yrs have i laid my eyes on a new wii offline lol ,

Exactly. Nintendo's dominance this gen is absolute. Why? They were the most intelligent out there and they knew what to do.

The Nintendo Wii deserves more third party support.
