Q:What is a 3DS? Is that like a 3rd gen DS?

A: Well, not quite. The 3DS is the next generation of portable gaming that will bring 3D gaming to the portable video game market.

Q: So, uh...we can play games in 3D, right?

A: Yep! And you don't even need glasses.

FEATURES

-3D gaming of course!

-You can adjust the 3Dness via the slider on the right.

-I don't know what that hole is for.

-Analog nub!

-Built-in memory (not sure how much)

-2GB SD included

-The ability to install games (not sure if this is 3DS only or for all DS titles)

-All features of the DSi

-You can play DSiWare games on here, as well as....wait for it.....wait..for...it......

-Virtual Console (or...portable!) for Game Boy (except for GBA, at least at launch) games!!! Some of them in 3D, too.

-It also searches for other 3DSs to download data, not sure what this is gonna be used for yet.

-Gyroscope and Accelerometer

Q: So uh, does it feature HD graphics?

A: Not quite, but it does feature graphics that are possibly better than the Wii's.

Q: All of this is cool and all, but when and how am I going to get my hands on one of these?

A: Japan gets it in Feburary in 2011, while the rest of us get it March 2011. It will run for $250 (quite expensive, I know, for a portable, but for all of these specs, I think it justifies the price quite well.) and comes in Black or Blue. It will look like this:

Anyways, like I mentioned in other threads, it all depends on the scores the launch titles receive. If at least 5 are 8.5 and up, or perhaps one AAA title and 3 AA titles, I'll get it. If the 3DS comes with a bonus for pre-ordering, depending on the bonus, I just may get it before it launches...

Nice thread. Just have a small problem though, you state that the 3DS will be $250. This is not confirmed at all. It's only confirmed for 25000 yen, which translates to US$300. So I'd rather you state these facts, and that we should not expect $300 though.

Yeah say how past systems have always costed more over there in Japan and how even though 25000 yen converts to $300 that no one should expect it to be that here in the States, also say that the official release date/ price has not been giving for any part of the world except Japan.

i want a purple or orange/gold 3DS :D

hopefully they'll all launch together.

and i'll hopefully get it for my birthday which is is early april :)
