There is this unfortunate rumor swirling around that there are 'wagglemotes' being made for the other 2 systems we all know and love. To keep this strictly Wii-related, do you think 3rd parties would abandon the Wii now with graphical powerhouses as their main alternative? This poses an interesting question as to whether the experience of the Wiimote would fend off any attempt at motion control success. I don't know if this is system wars-ish but I really don't want this to get modded because it is unsettling at least to me. I'm not sure if this would help or hurt the Wii. Answer with your thoughts.

Don't count on the other systems getting anything like what the Wii has. PS3's motion controller has just that, a motion controller, (no IR) and hasn't really been used a whole lot. Microsoft's motion thingy has only been rumoured about, and I doubt it'll be anything like the Wiiremote/nunchuk or anything. The Wii will be fine.

No, devs won't bother because not many people will buy it anyway. It's not why they bought the 360/PS3 systems for. The wiimote is the base of the system so they are no worries about people not using it and will always get supported.

The thing that interests developers most isn't controls, it's sales. The Wii is at present the best sold system of its generation. The more people that own a console, the more potential customers to sell your games to.

Another point to consider is that developers are extremely reluctant to support anything that wasn't included in the box AT LAUNCH. They know only a fraction of the user base will have it, so why take the risk? This is why devices like the eyetoy, Genesis six button, Saturn Analog controller, and the original DualShock to name a few recieved at best minor optional support.

What is a disadvantage as well to these remotes is thae age of the systems by the time it would be released. Plus, wouldn't it get the BAD press of a rip-off? The Wii has implemented motion so well, it's being copied basically, so I feel a little more confident in this not posing much of a threat. Motion, IR, whatever, the 1st party quality games has kept my loyalty to Nintendo my whole life, and I've had every generation home system from Nintendo.

this doesn't mean anything imo. It just shows that motion has a place in gaming.

Even if the MS or SONY create a "wand" or whatever they're gonna call it...they still can't compete price wise. At least not yet

The only thing Nintendo would ever have to worry about is if PS2 ever came out with something similiar. But even then, I wouldn't worry about it if I were Nintendo.

BOO YA

That's not good. Let's face it, the Wii Remote is what made the Wii so popular. There are two things that make the Wal Mart customer stop in the store and check out a game: a Wii Remote and graphics. Now that the 360 will have both, Nintendo should really start worrying.

That article doesn't confirm anything...

And I wouldn't just believe anything you find on the internet; it doesn't seem like that reliable an article, mainly because the guy seems to be speculating.

It's not like we'll see Gears of war 2 Waggle anytime soon. Maybe Banjo 3 could be used with it (oh Nintendo, go back in time and never sell them), but mostly wii ports will be ensured, nothing more. I don't think the wii has much to worry about.

Because that is such a trustworthy source. I'm sure the Wii will be fine.

We appreciate your efforts, but it's pretty much impossible to talk about this topic without it diving headfirst into System Wars waters eventually. We don't want any of those cowsharks or lemmingsharks coming in here and devouring our harmless sheepdolphins. :P

Perhaps General Games Discussion would be a good alternative to System Wars in this case, or if all else fails, you've always got your blog.
