Somebody's finding and buying them. You gotta look harder. In October, anyone who would have predicted that the Wii would sell more than 5 million units and still be sold out in April, would have been a laughingstock. You can hardly blame Nintendo for failing to predict just how well the Wii would be doing.
It's not that I'm pointing any fingers, but this should have been avoided some way, some how.Somebody's finding and buying them. You gotta look harder. lol thanks, but timetoparty does have a point, you should'ove just waited at the wii launch center like everyone else did
Yeah, I got in the line for the preorders about an hour before the store opened... I wasn't even close to getting a preorder before they sold out. Then the manager, nice guy that's never steered me wrong before, said "they're gonna have a million here by christmas, you'll have no problem getting one." I looked at him and said "Bull$h**."
On launch day I showed up hours before opening and things were looking grim (huge line around the block), so I called my mom (I'm away at college, so yes this was desperate but I didn't care) and told her to get up and leave NOW to the nearest Best Buy and wait in line, and I'd pay her back. She did, and got the 3rd to last one they had.
I sympathize with you people still in search of a Wii, It's a great system. Don't give up, it's bound to become readily available... soon... summer maybe.
Ughhhhh . . . How do people get so lucky?Yeah, I got in the line for the preorders about an hour before the store opened... I wasn't even close to getting a preorder before they sold out. When I asked the guy at the store today got get SPM out of the case for me he said "Oh, a Wii game, huh? So I guess you're not one of those people that call here all day every day asking if we have any in?" I said "Nope, got mine already" he said "You're one of the lucky ones then! We never keep em in stock for more than a few minutes!"
I've been playing games and buying consoles my whole life, and I have never seen anything like this before. it's really insane... I feel lucky to have just randomly found one back in February.
i mean its kinda funny, i got mine because i knew somebody. but dont act like its easy to get one, because the person i knew was going out with my friend and he's one of those nerdy herbs who thinks he's badass because he works at EB games, and my sacrifice was being nice to the jerk. he thought he had like power because i wanted a Wii so badly and he kept playing with me by saying things like "well i dont know if we'll have enough" or "well i already have mine so it doesnt really matter for me if we sell out before you get one".
so i was getting pretty damn annoyed, since i was dying to get one. well the launch day comes and i hear about how the wii went off the shelves like toddlers on meth. since the place i was gettting it from isnt open on sundays i had to wait for the next day. well after having to plan crap out so i can meet at my friends house at 6 so we could go pick them up, i was getting pretty freaking annoyed. finally we get there and theres like only 10 soccer moms and 3 nerds in front of us (those damn soccer moms do anything for their damn kids). so then my friend tells me that they get really anal about debit and credit cards and since i was using my moms i had to run to an atm and get about 400 dollars, and do you realize how annoying it is to carrying 400 dollars in 20's. well finally the line starts moving, and im stuck behind some soccer mom who couldnt remember what game her son wanted, until i finally told her that zelda was the only damn game that was worth getting and probably the only game that a 13 year old would really want out of all the launch titles. finally i get my wii, my zelda, and my rayman and leave...sit at the tables by cinnabon holding the box and i think i teared alittle, then my friend and her dooouche bf drove me to school, and before i closed the door i looked at him straight in the eye and told him "dude, you are such a freaking dick", then went off to class.

so thats my story, not great but watever.....now i just relaly want a black x-box 360
I've been trying to buy one for ages. Looking and calling here, there, and everywhere, just for a bit of info on when a shipment may come in. It's more than 6 months into the console's life, and they still don't have the readily available. I think it's insane. Go ahead and call me a troll, but I've been dying to get my hands on Wario Ware.The_CrowingPre-order it for when new stock comes in. U can put down a payments so they can reserve a copy for you
With millions wanting the system and only about 8-10 hitting a store every two weeks, fact here is that you have to work to get a Wii right now. I got my Wii on launch day after some hard work to get one reserved. Was in line at the local Gamespot to reserve one, with no avail...I was too far back. Two weeks later I got to Toys r' Us and stood in -30 degree weather for six hours just for the reservation. I was once again a little far back in the line. But after talking with the store manager for a while, and offering some coffee and food since he had to stay outside with us, he guarenteed I'd have one. True to his word he slipped me the reservation ticket within the game reservations I also asked for. Picked it up late afternoon on launch day and was asked by no less than five people from the register to the car if I wanted to sell it.
Point is if you want it, don't just call the place and ask "got Wii's" like everyone else. Unless you know someone, they aren't going to tell you because they aren't 100 percent sure. Look around and use your head...when do you see delivery trucks at these stores? Most retailers have a set schedule when truck deliveries come in. Take Gamespot and EB games for instance, first delivery of the week is usually late Monday night/early Tuesday morning before they open. So that would mean Tuesday morning is a good time to check. Also, don't be that consumer who walks in and says "got a Wii...why not?" You know why not...don't be stupid and annoying. They're just going to say no to get you out of their hair because they see you're stupid. Talk with the person a little bit, get a little trust going and then pop the 'I didn't see any Wii's on the case. Are there any available?" You might get the answer you're looking for.Â
