and games to come

There are many more, but Wii has great graphics if you think of it. It may not be HD, but it shows how good graphics can be in 480p or 480i.

This REALLY isn't needed, you know. People are always going to have their opinions on what the Wii can do, and I doubt something like this will change their view on the subject in any way. This has been done countless times before, and the impact has been non-existent.

This picture of The Conduit looks spectacular, wish they implemented it in the game in the exact same way. RE 4, RE Remake and Twilight Princess are GameCube ports, so since the Wii is stronger than the GC, it can do better graphics. Its just fanboys....they always say that the Wii produces horrible graphics.

There are some good graphics on the Wii, there is just so many crappy graphics some times I forget about the good games. Other than Nintendo or Capcom hardly anybody else puts out consistently good stuff. Other developers its a hit and a miss, or just a lot of misses.

You picked a horrible shot of Twilight Princess. If you can't see what's wrong with a lot of those screenshots than I can't help you. Blurry, bland textures, not very immersive. I have a Wii, I'm less than impressed. Keep in mind I'm a nostalgic old school gamer who loves his 2d. You have to play to your strengths, the Wii doesn't have the hardware and trying to make realistic looking games is a fail. Hence why Galaxy and Metroid are awesome, because they aren't supposed to look life like. Wii needs art styles to keep it fresh, it fails miserably when it tries to look realistic.

it's too bad some of those are even screen shots!

Also,I think it's sad that people always revert back to ported games from last generation, and say they are the best looking games on the Wii. Don't you mean the GC?

the wii has decent graphics. sure the ps3 and the xbox 360 have better graphics, but in the end, as long as their decent, i don't care about graphics, gameplay isSO much more important...

Why did you use a old Conduit pic, that looks like crap.

Need a pic from the final build to show how great it looks.

Wii's graphics don't suck...but they're not impressive either. I had a wii up until about 2 months ago and I can tell you from first hand experience that the PS3 (and the 360) are much more impressive...even on an SDTV. Also, wii graphics look flat-out poor on an HDTV. I liked the way my wii looked on my 27" analog Sony Wega better than on my 40" Samsung LCD. Again, wii's graphics don't suck but they're clearly the weakest of the 3 systems...and on an HDTV (particularly a 40"+ HDTV) the low-resolution/blurry textures/aliasing etc. really stand out.

You either needed component cables or your TV doesn't handle the 480i or 480p signal very well. The graphics look great on a 42 inch plasma a friend of mine has (and a 37 inch LCD that I have). No doubt the other systems are more impressive though, just pointing out that the Wii can look good on an HDTV.

Just a matter of how big of a stickler for detail one is, i guess. I had the wii hooked up with component to the LCD...I thought the textures were blurry (or at least blurry compared to PS3 textures) and the aliasing was pretty bad. I thought Mario Galaxy looked great on my SDTV, but on the HDTV too many imperfections were brought out. The wii isn't really designed to be hooked up to an HDTV...it only supports resolution up to 480p, and it doesn't even have an HDMI interface.

Older HDTVs usually had really good upsampling algorythms. More recent and cheaper HDTVs no longer use the more expensive upsampling technology (figuring you'd have an HD source anyway so it wasn't needed as much). Your TV has to convert the 480i/p video into 1080p (or whatever the native resolutiion of your TV is) so it takes up the entire screen (if not, you'd see huge black borders with a small video image). It's this upsampling that causes the excesive jaggies -- better algorythms are capable of keeping the jaggies from forming in the first place. If you see a ton of jaggies, then the upsampling ability of your TV is to blame.

Have you ever zoomed way in to a digital image from your digital camera or cell phone and noticed how blocky the image becomes? The same principal is at work here. There are ways around it, but that costs money.

I think you picked a few wrong games to make your point but I agree that the graphics are good. They are clearly inferior to the games on other platforms, but that doesn't mean they are bad.

they are better than the average xbox and gc game(besides processing power), lower than average ps360 game, but can be very pretty in any case.I dont see how more shaders or sparkle could honestly make games TVC look much better than it does on the wii.Same goes for Mario Galaxy.

well obviously mario graphics are good because itsw so simple, not much detail needed. but if u look at the games with more action in em and more detail needed- it looks like..... well words cant even describe how bad it is.

WHY do people care so much about graphics? WHAT are so important about them? Gameplay should be the main concern, as long as the graphics are decent it shouldnt matter.

Lol?...

Anyway, the Wii's graphics are definitely underrated. Monster Hunter Tri looks really bad in that picture though, when it actually looks much better in videos/other screenshots.

Edit: Actually, maybe component cables actually help a lot with The Conduit. I use them, and I loved the graphics. Others say they are terrible (Assuming they using the default SD ones). Someone also posted a little bit ago that his girlfriend moved her HDTV in his house, and he got cables, and The Conduit looks a lot better.

I've only seen the game with HD cables.

Having played The Conduit through in its entirety, I can honestly say that Metroid Prime looks waaay better in motion than The Conduit does.. and it's a last gen game.

Wii needs art styles to keep it fresh, it fails miserably when it tries to look realistic.Mau-Justice

This.

That's what the Conduit was really lacking that would have made it great. The game had a generic bland art style which in turn made the game look rather ugly and unappealing at many times.

I own the conduit. it's art design on some things is pretty good like guns, but the bakground art design is mediocre. it has very impressive graphics though maxing out the wii's capabilities. art design is needed on wii since the wii cant produce 360 and ps3 graphics so they focus more on art design rather then graphical effects but 360 and ps3 are focused on graphical effects. Wii does have better art design in most of there top games. Mario Galaxy and Metroid dont really have tons of amazing main effects like conduit like depth of perception, water effects, but they have some good effects like shades and great lighting and incredible art design.

1. I havent even gotten to 2 or 3 yet.

The mix of the technical prowess of the time, with the great artistic design, and attention to immersive detail blows The Conduit out of the water.

Artistically, the Metroid graphics look better. Technically, The Conduit is better. I think The Conduit had higher texture resolution, but left out the fine details. I can't quite put my finger on it.

What I do know is that the Metroid controls feel like molasis, and that's using advanced sensitivity. Turning speed is way too slow for me. I'm definitely dissapointed with the controls.

if graphics were the most important attribute i was concerned with when i purchased a console, i would not have bought a wii. the wii is my favorite out of all the systems. i have a 50" samsung dlp with component cables and i think everything looks great. i do not feel the need to defend why i bought a specific console. people can say that the 360's or ps3's graphics are better and i would say "you are right." (goes back to playing punch out).

I don't agree.

I have seen graphical effects in the Conduit that I have seen in games like Left 4 Dead.

I could go into detail, but then this post would be a WALL OF TEXT.

Technical power is irrelevant when nothing else contributes to the overall visuals. Metroid Prime is a superior because of itscombination of tech/art/design.

There are some parts of Prime where the graphics are plain awefull (for example, those boxes that tell you where to scan).

The Conduit has terrible graphics.

Just doesn't look as good as some last gen FPS games on PS2/Gamecube

WHY do people care so much about graphics? WHAT are so important about them? Gameplay should be the main concern, as long as the graphics are decent it shouldnt matter.sman3579

Are you trying to imply that the "video" portion isn't important in a "video game?"

You make it sound like the developers work so hard on the graphics that they forget all about gameplay.

Gameplay=Good
Graphics=Good
Gameplay+Graphics=Better
