I tried to mod my Wii so that the Blue light would stay open and guess what happened, I screwed it up.

Thats the mod: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=574908

I press on power and it powers for 0.5 sec and then no light at all, not even the red light its like its not plugged to the wall. I have to unplug it each time. And Zelda TP is stucked in it omfg. That will teach me.

And I wasted 3 hours with this mod because I was extra careful.

Edit: THE LIGHT IS ON WHEN THE WII IS TURNED ON, NOT ALL THE TIME.

That's exactly what you get for trying to mod a console... something Nintendo tells you NOT TO DO.

Nintendo provides a 1 year warranty on all its hardware. Trying to mod the console would more than likely void the warranty, though.

They can with a quick firmware update but it's really unneeded. I mean... it's just a light.

Is that a serious question? If it wasn't illegal, Nintendo would void your warrenty when you replaced the batteries... no company likes to replace products

NO NO NO. You think I dont know this trick? The problem is that if you receive a message while your Wii is on standby and then turn it on, the light will go off. If you receive a mesage while your in the main menu, the light will go off if you start any channel. I want the light to be constantly on while im playing a game or surfing the net or any channel and that mod was the only solution since Nintendo is too lazy to give us an option with that bloody blue light.

I love the "blame everyone else but me" thing you've got going. How's that working out for you? It's Nintendo's fault because they are too "lazy" to give you the ability to defeat a feature meant to be an INDICATOR of some sort of change. They should spend extra time to allow you to deafeat a feature they designed in. This in turn forced you to follow the advice of a third party (not Nintendo or anyone who actually is qualified in it's disassembly or repair) you choose to open up the system and modify it. You've clearly played around with surface mount components and know how to mess with them,

Yup Nintendo is at fault.

I'm curious here, have you tried contacting Nintendo and see if paying for a system repair would be a viable option?

I mean surely Nintendo doesn't condone modding under the warrenty, but I'd assume they'd still fix it if you waver the repairment fee in their face.

I'm sorry, your logic again for why they would spend time to make a "feature" that disables another feature? Oh yeah, there is none.

Stop complaining about what you don't have and put some effort into something that will bring results. For instance, you could actually try to LEARN something about how to correctly handle surface mount electronics. Or you could do a poor job, open up your system when you don't know what you are doing, ruin it, and then complain about on the internet. That should bring you some results.

Are you kidding me?

Nintendo Rep: So you opened it up, took a soldering gun to it, crossed a bunch of wires and now it doesnt work? Well sure your warrenty coveres this, I mean it wasn't your fault or anything.

Beats camping for a new Wii anyhow (or paying full-price), unless you're one of the lucky saps who can actually obtain one with ease.

Oh cuz spending 5 mins for the customersis really hard for a multibillion company. They wouldnt need to disable another feature. The light could still pulse when you receive a message. The lightcant lit up while your in a channel so I dont know how it would affect the whole Wiiconnect24. And it would be an OPTION. Im not complaining, I just needed to share my story calm down.

I work at Bestbuy so I know when they get shipments lol. But I prefer to pay $100 and keep my data than buy a brand new Wii.

Not all the time, people need to read. Go check the link. The light would only be on while the Wii is turned on.

why the heck would you want the blue light on all the time? i hate the blue light.

when nintendo sends you a message at 3 am and my entire room turns blue, really annoying.

on another note, nintendo may have the blue light turned off on purpose during gameplay since the led light can affect the remote since the sensor bar is essentially 2 led lights.
