A 2D Metroid game is fine by me though, if they can make the sprites and backgrounds look really nice then that'll be perfect... A deep story such as in Metroid Fusion would be nice too...

I believe what the topic creator means is a 2D metroid with 3D visuals. I really don't care if they do it that way or use traditional sprites; if it makes good use of both screens I'll be happy. Something along the lines of that Metroid Dread rumor that circulated pre-E3 '06, as others have mentioned here.

I understood. I like the visual style of NSMB but I do not think it would apply as well to Metroid. Who knows and who cares... I just really want one now that I have a DS!
