these topics are getting really annoying... but, here's what I think:
IF they announce a new DS, it'll be released in one year (maybe, two years). I just don't know why there's so much chatter about that, lately....
As for me, I wouldn't buy it, considering that I'm about to get a DS Lite on the next 3 or 4 days :P
I read an article posted on these forums awhile back about nintendo taking out the gba slot on the ds lite and making it even smaller, I think it was official but not sure, maybe theyll announce that. But Im ready to move on from two screens, I would rather have the gba2 announced with one widescreen display and gcube graphics, now thats an announcement!XprimeX
hmm.. I surely wouldn't buy that (I'd go for Sony's new PSP, if that happened), because that would mean "going backwards". The two screens were innovative, and I'd like Nintendo to keep that idea for their next handheld.
The only thing that I think Nintendo should work on a new handheld is: better graphics. Period.

After reading that article, I wouldn't be surprised if Ninty released a new handheld this holiday season...
I'd like to see them come out with a new Gameboy that'll compete with the PSP or next gen PSP.Marfoo
what he Marfoo said
Common sense says no, Nintendo are still doing well and would only castrate themselves if they did that, they don't release new hardware periodically to spite us, they do it to keep sales going.
With that said I suppose anything is possible.
Wait one moment.I have been saying it for a long time now, and now that the conference is over..I would like to say I told you so!
No new DS!
SoraX64
Before any of you do that wait tomorrow at Nintendo's exclusive developer discussion.

Why don't you buy a PSP if you want great graphics so badly? Are you that much of a Nintendo fanboy that you won't buy Sony products?

What brought you to that conclusion? The fact I said I wanted great graphics? That I said I hate Sony? My Nintendo related avatar, signature, and name? You have some impressive skills at making well informed assumptions. For shame calling me or the poster who quoted me a fanboy from so little info.FOOL!
Have you not heard of Reggie's words in E3 Nintendo Press Conference:
Reggie: "Since our Wii and DS systems are selling so good and better, we are not planning on any releases of new systems from Nintendo."
They will announce a new handheld soon since Myamoto confirmed a Zelda DS 2 and Zelda Wii 2 in his interview according to wii-brasil (http://wii-brasil.com/?sec=lernoticia&id=14193) and we know every Nintendo system has a Zelda 2 in its last year.
Sorry for my English, my primary language is Portuguese.
yeah but wut about the rumors that have ben going around for like 6 mnthsN1nt3nd0gam3r
For that reason they are called rumors, they can be true or false info!! Personally, I would say all is an invention of imagination and desires of gamers minds... Moreover, they hasn't announced new games of the heavy Nintendo franchises (Zelda, F-Zero, Star Fox, Mario, or the forgotten ones such as Punch Out! or Kid Icarus series) so the probabilities for a new hardware (new DS) are almost extinguished.
I've found Myamoto's interview in English:
Miyamoto: Two New Zelda Titles in the Works By TSA, in Zelda News on July 16th, 2008.In an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, famed creatored of The Legend of Zelda franchise, IGN learned that the Zelda teams are hard at work on upcoming Zelda titles. A Wii and DS team are currently working hard on the next iterations of Zelda, and more surprisingly, Miyamoto had this to say about how the series may change:
"I don't necessarily think it will change that drastically [referring to first-person controls], but I think that Zelda is a franchise that does need some big new unique ideas," he said. "And so the team right now is very focused on trying to find those ideas…
…The Zelda team in particular always works on Zelda titles. The core members of the Zelda team have for a very long time now been focused on Zelda games, and continue to focus on Zelda games, so they are hard at work and working away," Miyamoto said. "And then, of course, we have the DS Zelda team as well, so even there we're having some switching of people in and out where the DS team is mixing in with the Wii team and working on the Wii version."
Despite a lackluster showing and no new Zelda media, this new information should get speculation going amongst the fans.
