I know the Wii has been out for a while, so is it too late to get a Wii before the next nintendo console comes out? When do you guys think a new nintendo console will be coming out? Thanks in advance for your help and constructive input.

The Wii is huge right now. I doubt a new Nintendo system will be out anytime soon. There's still probably another 3 years left in this gen.
No. I doubt any new consoles are coming out soon. The absolute earliest is november 2011, but it probably won't come out until November 2012. Probably the 18th as it's on the Sunday nearest the middle of the month.
I'd totally get a Wii right now if I were you. The system is beyond tried and true, it comes in two color choices now, and for a limited time you can get Wii Sports Resort and a motion plus unit (personally, I would rather have a second remote and nunchuck...) but it is a great deal!
If you are worried about a new system coming out in the next year or so, just wait for E3. If no successor is mentioned at E3, then the Wii will still be the king of the playground for 2 more years or so.I know the Wii has been out for a while, so is it too late to get a Wii before the next nintendo console comes out? To be honest with you inless you already have a 360 or PS3 or have people you can play with in your house then dont bother cause theres only a handful of games that aint family related that your gonna wanna play. I was a fan of anything by nintendo still am but the wii i got b4 my 360 yet i have over 40 games for my 360 and like 5 for my will. 5 games do not just a buy for a system IMO. But hey if you aint got a DS then id go for that you can prolly get 1 for under 100 bucks online and it has alot of great games for it.Painmaster212
I agree with this, except swap the word 360 for PS3 in my situation :P. To be honest I have considered buying a Wii again, but I doubt I will. There just is not enough good games for the "hardcore" gamer.
That being said, if you really want one for the games out and you know the game selection is good for you, then yeah I do not see a reason not to buy one.
unless Nintendo pulls off a Wii 2 or Wii HD in the next few days (E3 2010),
you probably won't see a next-gen nintendo console 'till2012.
With the release of AAA titles like Metroid M and Zelda Wii, i personally don't think we'll see
next-gen nintendo console very soon.

I'm a One Console kinda guy, and I have had nothing but good times with the Wii. Some have said there is not much variety in the games, but I think it's all down to personal taste. I find that there are a lot of good games available with pretty much all the genres catered for.
I just bought the Black Wii as soon as it was released, so no, I don't think it's too late to pick one up. Go pick one up and enjoy it!I know the Wii has been out for a while, so is it too late to get a Wii before the next nintendo console comes out? wow, everyone really doubts the next Nintendo console to come so soon eh? im pretty sure we will see the Wii's sequel before MS's or Sonys.
As for the TC, the Wii is cheap enough now that even if a new console were to come late next year...you'd get plenty out of it. I would personally wait until after E3 to make an official decision.
Success isn't greater than a primitive console. Nintendo knows that down the line, despite Wii's success, they will have to reveal the next Wii (HD). High definition, 3D gaming is too relevant these days to ignore and Nintendo is probably working on an HD Wii right now as we speak. It's just a matter of time until they announce it. The Sony Playstation 2 did extremely well, and continues to sell like hotcakes even until today. Despite their success, they released a PS3, because technology must run with the times. And a PS2 wasn't going to make the cut and further technological improvements.no new console at this E3 = get a wii.
anyway i doubt there will be one until 2012 or beyond cause of its success.

Depends what you're looking for really.
If you are looking for an entirely different gaming experience, and a really entertaining multi-player console, then I'd say go for it. It's machine that everyone, regarldess of sex or age group, can really find something enjoyable in. It's also selling for a pretty good price now, bundled with both Wii Sports and Wii Sports resort.
If on the other hand you are more of a graphics junky, or someone looking for more quality games (especially sports games) from 3rd party developers, then I'd recommend you go with one of the HD consoles instead.
Lastly, I wouldn't worry too much about the possibility of Nintendo coming out with a new console anytime soon. At least not before 2012 in my opinion. The Wii has just been selling too damn well for Nintendo to think abuot abandoning it within the next year. I also think that 3rd party developers are starting to catch on a bit more in regards to the Wii's technology, and thus some better 3rd party games are likely to come out for it from here on. If Nintendo comes out with a new gaming system anytime soon, it'll likely be a handheld one (3DS).
No offense to anyone, but why are some of you guys going against a new Wii HD console? Is it going to hurt you guys in any way, shape, or form? With most of the core games already on store shelves, there are only Metroid Other M, and the NEW Zelda left to dish out. Is it so bad that you'll be able to play Wii games in full HD Glory on your HDTV? What's so bad about that...? I just dont get it.Elian2530
i agree with ya here. Also, if Nintendo is the first to release their next console and its got HD, people will be all over it. I personally think if they wait too long, it could hurt their current situation...especially if Natal/Move are bundled with the next consoles. I would think Nintendo wants to jump at this opprotunity asap...they could continue to sell Wii along-side.

Great point. I totally forgot about Natal and Move. How will Nintendo counteract that? There is only one way...!
P.S. Exactly, there is no reason why the original Nintendo Wii can't sell alongside the new Wii HD. Playstation 2's continue to sell alongside PS3s until this day.

I own a 360 and an HDTV, and HD for me was kind of like 3D in movies; it was cool for a while but then I just got used to it. The word I would use to describe HD content would certainly not be "glorious". I really don't care about it.

I would have to disagree. HD is the norm, while as 3D is just an optional feature. I could care less about 3D, as it just hurts my eyes. :P Explain why there are no more SDTVs out there and there are stock shelves full of only HDTVs. You gotten use to it, because it is the norm now. And you can't say that HD is like 3D. HD offers a sharper, clearer, better picture quality as oppose to SD. 3D is just an option to allow you to view certain content in a different perspective. Two totally different things.[QUOTE="chex81"]

I don't understand why anyone wants or cares to see Wii HD. I pitty those of you who only seem to care about the graphics. Yes graphics are an essential part of any video game but. I like my video games to look like video games, really can you imagine what Mario would look like in HD? Would you even want to?
And I don't see Nintendo making their next console and only adding HD anyway. Nintendo has been the first to do a lot of different things...Wii Fit (video game to encourage getting fit) and Motion Control just to name a few.
When Nintendo does reveal it's next console I'm sure they do it like they always do, with something else "new" and "different" then the other consoles. They were the first ones to present Motion Control afterall, with others following only four years after the fact.
That's about all I'll say though :P I could go on but, this thread seems to be getting into System Wars so.
Anyway to the TC...I'd get a Wii considering that it's now bundled with Wii sports+Wii Sports Resort/Wii Motion Plus for only $199.99. And even if Nintendo does announce a new system at E3, I still think that the Wii's worth the money as they're a lot of great games for it. And for the fact that you can also play GameCube games on the Wii. So either way (if Nintendo does/doesn't announce a new system at E3) I think that you'll get a lot of fun out of the Wii.

From a multitude of angles, a "Wii HD" just makes little to no sense at this point. The fact that many of Nintendo's key titles have been released already without HD speaks enough about not needing a new Wii where its only difference is solely playing games in HD. And since the current Wii games weren't made for being played in HD to begin with, I'm guessing those games aren't going to be displayed in that "full HD Glory" that you're asking for anyways. A WiiHD would only serve for new games that are actually made for the system, and the Wii's too far along and too successful of a system without HD to make such a system even a logical idea.
I don't think anyone's AGAINST playing Wii games in HD, but if anything, just isn't in support of a brand new HD-ready Wii model showing up. HD is something that can wait until the next system rolls around, quite honestly, and the continued success of the Wii reflects that. I'm guessing that the majority of people that purchased a Wii, specifically those who visit gaming forums and the like, were aware of its non-HD ways before buying it, and given all that the Wii has managed to do, it's just unrealistic to think that a HD-ready model was suddenly going to appear from out of nowhere and for really little reason at all.

LOL, i dont understand why anyone DOESN'T want HD. It doesnt only have to do with better "graphics", how about clarity and sharp picture? Seriously, playing my Wii on my 50" 1080p isnt pleasing...its blurry and extremely pixel blocky (and yes, ive got the component cables). Your videogames can still look like videogames, just with a clearer picture that doesnt hurt the eyes. Have we spoiled ourselves with the technology? Maybe, but like mentioned...its the standard now, why settle for less? And i agree, i wouldn't want just HD visuals...of course new innovation is the true key...lets just hope its something developers other than Nintendo will utilize more than they have with the Wii.
I really think is a good time as you can get the new black one with two very fun games, and get a lot of great titles for cheap. And even new ones like MH3, TvC, SH:SM, etc. A new system is, IMO, at least a year ahead to be announced and 2 to be releasedI know the Wii has been out for a while, so is it too late to get a Wii before the next nintendo console comes out? I'm not making any comments about HD as a standard. I'm just saying that I don't care. And that is why I would prefer not to pay more to get something that I don't care about. I play games on my 360, I play games on my Wii, I really don't feel there's that huge of a difference as proponents of HD graphics claim. Maybe my eyes don't work, I don't know.

Because some people aren't too crazy about the idea of a system being dropped after just 4 years on the market. If the Wii could potentially make a solid run of at least 6 years (which I think it definitely can), then why should they have to resort to releasing a new console so soon? People spend good money on this hardware/software, hoping they can get the most out of the experience for a decent period of time. As an old school Sega fanboy, I of all people know how much it sucks to invest so much money into a console, only for it to be dropped shortly after its release.

Second.

somethings wrong with your tv..maybe the scaler...usually lcds have more problems than plasma.
Both of my TV's are Plasma. The console doesnt look too bad on my 42" 720p LG, but on my Samsung 50" 1080p...ugh. Nothing wrong with my TV's, everything other than the Wii looks fantastic, even non-HD cable TV.
Get it. The whole next generation thing is dumb. This generation will last longer than 5 to 6 years. Nintendo isn't going to announce a new Zelda for an old system and then come out with a new one. That would be dumb. Developers are getting the hang of the Wii, Nintendo is going want people to make games for the system. Even if they did announce Wii 2 or whatever at this years E3, That means the new system would not come out until Fall of 2011. There are already games for wii that still have yet to come out for and probably won't until 2011. Dragon Quest X is in development for Wii as still has not come out in Japan, which means the west will not see it until 2011 at the very least. The Grinder is due in 2011. Pikmin 3 might be a surprise this year, but who knows it could come out in 2011 as well. All the RPG's for wii probably won't come out until 2011 in the west. Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Tales of Graces I am sure will all be 2011. I don't see where a new system will come from Nintendo anytime soon, when veteran or core type games are now just starting to roll frequently on the system. With all of these games coming, Nintendo can finally put the bed the idea that Wii is only for casuals.
There is quite of a backlog for wii
you can get:
Twilight Princess
Paper Mario
Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
Smash Bros
Mario Kart
Fire Emblem
Metroid Prime Trilogy and soon to be released Metroid Other M
Warioware
Little Kings Story
Zack and Wki
de blob
Tatsunoko VS Capcom
No More Heroes 1 and 2
Excitebots
Batallion Wars 2
A Boy and his Blob
Sin and Punishment 2 is soon to be released as well.
Warioland Shake it
Muramasa the Demon Blade
That is like 22 games that are worth getting. Not all of them are triple A but some of those are quite old and you could get a some of them for cheap.
