I always wonder what is going on when someone pays $350 for a Wii U and then wants to sell it after months of playing it for another machine...Why not borrow or rent one instead? I don't get it. That's a lot of money to spend for a launch machine, especially if you were considering buying a much cheaper PS3 console that you could have had before the Wii U released. I'm just confused on how that all worked out.
Do whatever you please, I myself will own all the machines just like last gen and the gen before that and before that, etc.
Â
it depends on how much you're getting back for the wiiu. If I were selling the system, I wouldn't part with it unless I got $250 back.
Personally I wouldn't recommend selling a system, but if you're only interested in two games that wont be coming out soon then now would be the best time to sell. You don't want the system to drop in price, and screwing you out of getting some of the money back. You could always buy it at a later time when the two games have released, and it's library has grown.
A tip on buying new systems. All systems need time for the game library to grow, it's going to take some patience if you want to buy it close to the launch.
Might as well sell it now because the value will only go down. Especially in the next year when nintendo does the more than likely price drop on the system to spur sales.
Ditch it now to get the most out of it you can and put that money on a PS4. Then again the PS3 is less and already has a huge library of really great games.
You can always go back and get a wiiu in a year or so when you can get more games you want. It will be cheaper by then as well. There is no sense is sitting on a console though that you dont use when that money can be used to get something you will use and want more.
I know what you mean but I was sure the games I bought would keep me entertained. Plus I enjoyed the fact of being prepared for smash and mario kart lol. Im still on the fence..BlkBookillusion
just do what everyone else does wit their 2ndary console....let it collect dust until games are released.
only sell it if you dont care if you ever use it again.
Call me a fanboy if you wish, but no self respecting Nintendo fan EVER gets rid of a Nintendo console. Keep the Wii U, and get a PS4 later, after its bugs/glitches and all its features are up and running. Cause if you think the PS4 will be at 100% and not have bugs at launch then your an idiot. Wouldnt be surprised if another Yellow Light Of Death happened. Plus imo the ONLY good games the PS4 has currently is Infamous Second Son and Destiny (A Multiplat) which doesnt come out till next year. Every else including Killzone is garbage.

Reggie will also say what he needs to say to move units. Like all PR, be careful what you hear otherwise you will be shocked over and over again by how many 180's these executive salesmen pull. I don't trust Jack, Reggie, or Don. I don't PR. There job is to say what they need to say to sell machines.
If Reggie said, "Price Drop Coming SOON!" people would wait to buy a Wii U. He's NEVER going to do that.
Keep it, & save up for PS4 or PS3 (cheap atm with lotsa games)..unless of course you're not into the titles that's coming out next yr MK, SSB, X, Bayonetta2...or any titles through out this yr. Why you're never gonna get your worth back...its as simple as that..you sell now its you're gonna have to sell cheap since its in a slump. If Wii U doesn't improve then its Wii U, PC, & PS4 triple combo for me. :P
Save your console and wait it out a bit. You might regret it like most who sold their 3DS not too long ago and bought new ones a couple of months after selling it (a couple of my friends have sold theirs, and when Nintendo Direct came up to showcase all the new 3DS games to come, they went to buy new ones!!!).
Rarely do we see lot's of games when a console launches, if you can, be patient and keep it at least until end 2014.
I know you're worried and probably think Wii U is gonna tank, but that's what most thought would happen when 3DS came around and wasn't selling much the first complete year. Now, they're selling like hotcakes, especially the XL version.

Anything can change; I work in a game store, and our execs have been told by the Nintendo higher up's they've got something huge planned for the holidays. Also, Microsoft's console's dropped exactly 100$ since it launched. The price has stayed pretty steady.

Your first point practically killed your entire argument. So because he simply doesn't think he got his money worth and feels like the PS4 would be a smarter investment, he is an idiot as well as not a "true" Nintendo fan? Seriously, what is up with narrow minded people and brand loyalty? You're no better than the people who buy Call of Duty every year in that regard.Call me a fanboy if you wish, but no self respecting Nintendo fan EVER gets rid of a Nintendo console. I wasn't too excited to buy a Wii U at launch until I broke my foot. Not much to do when you are basically homebound. I bought Gamecube and Wii at launch but was going to wait out the Wii U until the hype got to me. I was out of town and missed pre-order sign up, so I really HAD to have one feeling I was missing out. I've been loyal to Nintendo and don't own any other system, so saving up for X or Play is never an issue for me.
Having the system even if you are just waiting for Kart and Smash doesn't seem a reason to sell and then rebuy later. Time is money too. Why waste your time trying to get a good resale value for what you have assuming you'll be getting a better deal down the road if you plan on rebuying new? I would not buy used as you never know how someone would not take care of a system as well as I would.
In my opinion you have a gem. It's value will just keep going up. Sure it has had a ridiculously slow start, but It doesn't seem much different than all the wait times I had for games in the past. I'd rather wait for a good game than a rushed flawed game.
I really enjoyed this system but Tbh I bought it mainly for Super smash bros and Mario Kart 8. Being that they wont be out for quite some time now, I wanted to sell it and put the money towards a PS4. I am not a console fanboy but I am really impressed with the PS4 features. Live game streaming and recording mainly. I also was debating if I should just buy a PS3 for GTA V! that game is just around the dang corner!!! anyways what is your opinions on this and If you had to choose, what would you go for, PS3 or PS4?BlkBookillusionYou're dead to me.
If you really like the look of the PS4 and don't like the look of the Wii U, then by all means, sell it.Â
Something to consider is that the PS4 may have a bit of a dry spell most consoles have in the beginning, while the Wii U may hit a stride soon to come. Â
I'd keep it, if I were you. Games are right around the corner at this point. If you've made it this far, you might as well go the last mile.
I'm kind of shocked someone would actually consider selling a Wii U now, after sitting through the months of drought. The games are right around the corner. Starting with Pikmin next month, Wii U is going to pick up steam because it'll actually have new games coming out consistently. Yeah Mario Kart and Smash won't be out until next year, but buying a system for those games before they came out was your fault, not anyone else's.
