arent there already 3 mario games on wii
actually 4
new super mario bros
super paper mario
super mario galaxy 1 and 2
[QUOTE="Rod90"]It would make sense. considering the 3 Super Mario games on the NES.kenakuma
lol, how does that make any sense?
It just means that "hey, it's been done before."
And I think that Ninty really has something with Mario Galaxy. Endless freedom in terms of design. I think regardless, we'll still see gravity, and 2d sidescrolling levels.
Assuming it would take another 3 years for SMG3 to arrive, the Wii would be a bit long in the tooth by then (like all the current consoles). And then any SMG3 would need a decent shelf life of 1-2 years, making the console ancient (hyperbole ftw).
Nintendo has to consider what it's doing next with its hardware, which will inevitably include what Mario does next to showcase that system.
We'll see what happens once everyone has stopped going wild over SMG2 ;) .
I dont think so. The only reasonShigeru Miyamoto and his team decided to make another Super Mario Galaxy was because they did not end up putting everything they created in the first game and they wanted to release it. It says in an interview withShigeru Miyamotoin the latest Game Informer.

Kinda, maybe title wise their was technically 3 marios but gameplay wise is a different story.
Mario 2 I'd give ya because it was basically the same thing as one, just built on the basic concept without really adding anything other than new level designs, but mario 3 added so so much it was the type of jump you would have expected between gens in a mario game!
So unless SMG 3 really does something insanely amazing like SMB 3 did back then than I think its not the same and would be a pretty bad idea and they should just wait for the wii 2 for that game and put their full efforts into that.
Then maybe we could go back to getting a super new and innovative mario game at the consoles launch instead of having to wait but even then I think its to late as I'm sure SMG 2 has most likely taken away from development on the next gen mario...
As far as Galaxy having endless freedom, I think thats just an illusion. The way ppl make that argument the exact same could be said about SM 64 and even SMW. Theirs always something new and innovative you can add to advance the formula, usually you have to wait for a new console/gen for it to be possible due to adnvancments in tech. That being said I think SMG has really pushed the wii to its limits in terms of gameplay design and we'll have to wait for the next gen mario to have are minds blown by an advanced innovation mario game like SMG did and SM 64 before it!
Theres always something new they can be adding/doing, just a matter of how limited they are by technology.
i highly doubt that to happen, unless nintendo runs out of ideas and decide to stricktly make mario games, but you are getting ahead of yourself like mentioned from other GS users, once you beat SMG2, you can at least think about a SMG3 (but i still highly doubt nintendo will make it)
It would make sense. considering the 3 Super Mario games on the NES.Rod90That's what I was thinking.
You can just see it coming.

IMO, SMG1 cover looks waaay better than SMG2. :?
@Topic: I won't like to see a Super Mario Galaxy 3 anytime soon. 2 is enough, I want a new theme. :x
All of the 3D Mario games have had a particular focus. For Mario 64, we were given pseudo open-worldlyness. For Mario Sunshine, the focus was on storytelling. For Galaxy, it was all about pushing technology and Galaxy 2 serves to fine-tune all that. If there was a Galaxy 3, it would need to have stronger story elements rather than being simply more of the same concept, pushing development several years back, which would inevitably mean a lot of work on a new gameplay mechanic that could only work on the Super Wii.
I haven't even played Super Mario Galaxy 2 yet. So I can't exactly say what my stance on a third is.
It would be interesting if they did but I'd want comparing SMG to SMG3 to be similar to comparing SMB1 to SMB3. If they make a third one it needs to completely blow away the first and be significantly better in every way imaginable, to the point where it's a waste of time to even play 1 unless it's for nostalgia. I'd rather see Super Mario World 2 II though. That's my favorite 2D mario game. That or make a new Starfox with retro graphics.Senor_KamiThere is a sequel to Super Mario World 2 called Yoshi's Island DS (Original titled Yoshi's Island 2).
