Well... its an opinion of style really... The Wii, is great. I got one the first day it came out. Was the first in line (camped out) at my local Wal-Mart. However just a month later, Christmas came around and good ol Santa Clause brought me an Xbox 360. and honestly, i may have only turned my Wii on maybe 10 times from last Christmas to now. The main reason i bought Wii was for LoZ: TP (Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess), SSBB (Super Smash Bros. Brawl), and SMG (Super Mario Galaxy), and Metroid Corruption. And for Christmas i got 3 games with my 360. Gears of War, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and Need for Speed Most Wanted. and honestly, Gears is one of the best games ive ever played and i can always have fun on Oblivion... didnt like NfS: MW.
So basically, if your into Shooters, RPG's, and GREAT Online experiences, then go Xbox360 (the 360 dosnt HAVE to take a long time to play. i often turn mine on for only 20 mins before school and am pleased with the fun i had.)
If your into quick Mini-Games, Sports, and Super Smash Bros. (hehe) go Wii. The Wii is worth having simply for the great titles comming out later this year.

so yea, my 2 centÂ
I'd say go with the XBox 360.Â
More games available and it looks like the Wii is going to take the same route as the Cube, that is, not many new games.
I own a Cube, love it but wouldn't bother with a Wii - I like a traditional controller and I see that new games just aren't there for the Cube. Â
How could you play NHL 2K8 with the remotes? Seriously.

Umm... the 360 has been out longer. Of course it's going to have more games at this point in time. (you'll notice that the PS3 is fairly dry at this point too)

Who would have thought a NFL could work with it?

I would stay well clear of the 360 not just because of the hardware issues (the system is cheap and nasty and noisy and keeps going faulty) but because the games just don't come close to Nintendo's. Gears of War is way way overated, It's very short, very samey all the way through and the last third of the game is utter crap,I won't even mention the driving section. This is also one of the best games on the system so that tells you something. If you have played the Zeldas or Metroids and the like on the cube then like me you will be waiting forever for something of the same high standards. I say get a Wii some cheap cube pads and games and have a bit of patience. Quality before Quantity. I got rid of my 360s and will never go back. Nintendo's good games are really in a league of their own, something I didn't really realise until I returned to them after a few of years of giving my cash to Microsoft.piggwinn
Zelda is way way overated and Nintendo's games don't come close to anything on 360.
*See I can do that too*
These kind of topics need to stop its the wrong place.Â

GREAT Online experiences on consoles? O RLY? You've got to be kiddin' me. Computers offer a great online experiences and consoles, well not so great. Even Live sucks when compared to what PCs and Macs got to offer. And when it comes to RPGs PS3 totally beats xbox.
Firstly there are western-RPGs and then there are Japanese-RPGs and if u want to play em both go with PS3.
Secondly the only good RPG xbox has got to offer is Oblivion and it gets pwned by the polished PS3 version which is not nearly as stripped (when compared to the PC version) and looks a LOT better. Play em both and u too will agree. Oh man when I played the xbox version I was stunned by the amount of stuff removed. Oblivion on xbox isn't bad but when compared to the PC and PS3 version, it is horrible. Well we all own the PC version of the game so we don't care, right? Well not all but one should not compare Oblivion on xbox to Oblivion on PC and PS3. PC still totally owns the PS3 version BTW.
And yes, u should choose Wii instead of an xbox. Wii's got a lot more variety when it comes to games whereas on xbox FPS(bad FPSs coz FPSs do not work on consoles) is the most dominant genre. Oh and PS3's also got a lot of variety though it hasn't gotten any good games yet.
PS. This one belongs to the system wars. System wars tch, what a stupid thing to say 'cause Nintendo already won if they come up with more new and exiting ideas, if not then SONY will win. And we wouldn't want that, would we? Nah, it's good either way though it would be great if Nintendo would get back her throne from SONY.
EDIT: Sorry, I made it a little too long... Well now nobody will notice my bad grammar (that's actually the only thing they will notice) and Nintendo/SONY fanboyism. Actually I am not a fanboy since I play a lot more on my computer than on consoles. Although I've been playing a lot of FFVII on PSP lately... Still PC owns all consoles and all hail Star Craft II.

Check my sig (I hope the link still works...). Maybe it's only the PAL-box which has major hardware issues. Gears of War is way way overrated just like Halos, Marios, WoW and Final Fantasy IX. Gears of War is a good game, not great yet still better than any PS3 game... What can I say, Nintendo's on top.

I think this guy is in serious error.
I got a Wii back in December. The fall lineup is looking superb, especially with Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The Virtual Console is excellent, and will continue to get better. I've downloaded tons of games for it already (about 8-10 games).
I recently got an Xbox 360 Elite though. I think it (Xbox 360 in general) is marketed to a different crowd. Much more to the competitive online gamer, and people that like to uncover as much of the game as possible (an earn GP for achievements). Definitely is well positioned for serious online gaming. I think it suffers from having a software lineup riddled with PC ports. That was true of the Original Xbox as well. However, the system is powerful. I think it will be successful against the PS3. It's not a fanboy bias, it's what I believe is true. That's why I bought it.
I think the Wii will also have excellent online play though. We'll find out with Super Smash Bros. Brawl. If you can only get one system, go with the Wii. I do enjoy my Xbox 360 though.
Conclusion: Go with a Nintendo Wii. Buy a 360 for a serious online experience, but only if you have the spare cash and really want one. The decision may not be clear now with the current lineup, but the state of the video game industry is going to change significantly this fall I think with Nintendo's outstanding lineup.Â
I am not a fanboy I'm just giving my honest opinion. I have owned every system with exeption of The Neo Geo, The Philips CDI, and the PS3. Yes I even bought a 3DO and an Atari Jaguar. I have been gaming since the earliest arcade games and was a massive importing hardcore gamer in my youth. I was at one time (in my youth obsessed) and even travelled to Hong Kong with my girlfriend (now my wife) to pick up a N64 and two games for release day. I payed £600 for a *** Playstation and a copy of Ridge Racer a week after release. I hope this demonstrates that I love games not systems. I bought an Xbox and decided to get rid of my cube and had many good times with it (and it never broke). When I picked up the 360 I traded in my Xbox and then after 3 weeks My 360 broke, I had it replaced and it broke again, I was a bit angry due to the system cracking my game discs and making them worthless for trade in. Then my 360 broke again and that was enough in my view. Of all the systems I had owned over the years never had one given up on me once, never mind 3 times in 8 months. If any of you had experienced this you would I am sure feel as negative towards Microsoft as I am. I then picked up a Wii and after 3 months I and my mates have enjoyed ourselves more on Wii sports than any game I can remember in a long time. I spent a few monthe picking up Cube titles I have previously owned an many I had missed out on. And in my and only my non fanboy opinion the games I am playing now are in a league of their own. When I got rid of my last 360 I owned 5 games but had bought most of the releases and traded them in after being dissapointed. I was never online or in HD so I can't give any fair commenton these aspects of the games, perhaps this is why Gears of War seemed so dissapointing to me? I now have my Wii and own 6 games including Wii Sports, and have picked up 20 cube games and it has re-ignited my love for gaming. I honestly thought I had reached 40 and was just fed up with the whole game scene but now I really can't find enough hours in the day to play my games. I am impressed with Nintendo and very dissapointed with Microsoft, I do however wish sony would have dropped the Blue Ray and released the PS3 at a better price because the machine looks a quality piece of kit unlike the very shoddy 360.Â

Wii games are simplier and easier to play than Xbox 360, i have both videogame systems... i work every day a short time with the wii, the xbox 360 is reserverd to spend more time... with good games like Gears of War.
Take a look at my web http://wiiwii.es there are a lot of videos that can you see. Wii is funny!

I was like you before and
the wii saved my gaming life completely.
You should really buy a wii, the 360 wont be as fun.

I have both consoles and I prefer, TBH, xbox360. Wii is a great party console (playing bowling with friends etc is very fun), but the superior graphics and game-library of the xbox 360 is of more importance to me than the motion controls. The motion controls don't even work as good as you might expect, for example if you want to play Zelda: TP you might think "how cool is it to be able to use the Wiimote as a sword and swing with it". While in reality, no matter what kind of motion you make with the Wiimote, the in-game animation is nothing like motion of your Wiimote (you could even shake the Wiimote in whatever matter to perform those attacks).
Another example, Red Steel (First person shooter), in theory it sounds great to be able to use the Wiimote as a gun and point at the screen and shoot. But in practice you'll get tired of holding your arm stretched out all that time and the controller for this FPS is noway as comfortable as playing an FPS with a xbox360 controller.
I have had the 360 for more than a year now and the Wii for 2 months, and I got tired of playing on Wii after 2 weeks. I also got the best games for Wii (according to gamespot.com review score) but none of them kept me interested to even complete them.
To summarise; motion capture is not THAT GREAT, outdated graphics, the game-library sucks (so far), a console for more casual 'non gamers', no mature games (except for Resident Evil 4 and Manhunt 2 which will come out this summer).

Zelda isn't a great example. TP is essentially a GCN game that got ported late in its development. The motion wacks are just substitutes for button presses. (this was tacked on especially late too... the E3 build of TP Wii used B for sword fighting, not motion)
