Just noticed it. I'm surprised they didn't just add a 3

A slash, a number, and two letters, more specifically.Seems pretty damn lazy to me. They just added three letters and a slash.

While the 3DS is a next gen portable, it isn't completely separate from the DS so there is no reason to create a separate forum. This isn't lazy at all. Eventually the DS will be phased out but that probably won't happen until the next gen is released after the 3DS and 3/DS games are no longer supported.TankZorz...It kind of IS 'completely separate', as in they're completely different systems. It's not like games are going to be released for both 3DS and DS games. The only "similarity" is that people who already have a DS are probably interested in getting a 3DS too. Really all that's gonna happen is this board is going to begin to get overrun with 3DS threads (except when Pokemon Black/White come out).

There are a lot more similarities between the DS and 3DS than that... and ALL DS games can be played in the 3DS so they are not completely separate. If the 3DS used an entirely new format of cartridge/disc and was a completely different system (like when the DS was originally released) I would agree with you.

This is more like the jump from GBA to DS really, they've completely started from scratch on this one. In fact in terms of hardware specs, the jump is significantly larger. The DS was very cheap at launch, simply because it wasn't at all powerful by the standards of the time, whereas with the 3DS we're paying more than the PSP was at launch. The game format is irrelevant really.. the Xbox and 360 both use DVDs, but are totally different consoles.
