Then you might want to invest in a PS3 or 360 for shooters. I'm sure you can look forward to another Zelda title a few years down the road, but Nintendo isn't going to do away with whats making the Wii a success.

Those games are coming. If you don't want to play casual games, don't buy them. Nintendo is still developing "hardcore" games. I don't know why people are convinced Nintendo is only doing one and completely ignoring the other. They are developing for both sects, and it will only help them in the long run.

Maybe not completely screw the casual gamer. But nintendo should focus far more on the hardcore gamers that helped make them great. Casual gamers might buy like 10 games in the entire life span of the wii. But it is nice to have some casuals like the wii. It may help people not think less of videogames. My mom has actually "hated" videogames less ever since i got my wii and she played warioware.

i wouldnt mind both to be honest -- im really happy with the way nintendo is going, i got 5 great 'hardcore' games and games coming out i can play with my family.

Hell, ill be playing smash, mario kart with my brother (22 yrs) and my parents ill be playing wii sports, wii fit, and smg -- so its fine for it.

I don´t know, I can see a great future in the balance wii board, maybe they can find some usage for a FPS or action games so it can simulate your movement, it would be SO AWESOME!! so I think you should just zip it and wait.

Without the casual games, there were no video games at all. It's where it had begun. All the old arcade games like Pac-Man or Galaga are casual games. It's the hardcore games that I have a problem. What are hardcore games? What is the definition of this? Many will say that you must have a gun and blood to be hardcore. Super Mario Galaxy is hardcore. Metroid Prime 3 is hardcore. Nintendo isn't abandoning the hardcore gamers. The core players don't need to be marketed at all. They go here or IGN. The Casual games must be on ABC or CNN to be marketed. That'sthe reason of the "horrible" press conference at E3.

If you're asking me, it's screw shooters or play them on a PC.

It doesn't sound harsh, it sounds uneducated.

First of all we were all causual gamers so the idea that they don't belong with everyone else here is inane. I doubt many people are as hardcore as I am but I don't consider myself elite because of it.

Also the casual money Nintendo brings in goes to games for the hardcore also so when you say "screw the casual" you're really saying you don't want Nintendo to have money to compete in this gen and provide games for the hardcore gamers.

What I'm saying is that if you dismiss the casual gamer that shows that you're not a gamer at all.

I don't mind the casuals, but for the most part most everyone knows a bad game when they play it. It's not entirely Nintendo's fault, but Everyone including Ninendo really need to up the quality here. Simple PS2 ports and Half assed mini game chash ins are not going to cut it.

I guess the casual gamer is okay as long as they do both.they are announcing a lot of casual games . they havent announced any new "hardcore" games in a while. i know they won't abandin "hardcore" games but we could see less and less.

Why does it have to be one or the other? Is Guitar Hero a casual game because you can just pick it up as a new player and play or play in bursts anytime you want? Or is it a "hardcore" game (a term I hate btw) because it takes a level of effort and commitment to 5 or gold -star every song on Expert? And what about Smash Brothers - which shares a similar dilemma? I just don't think there should always be a distinction between the two.

i know. If you get a "work out" from the wii then you are just straight up out of shape. Screw the fit games and put more effort towards your expertice Nintendo! Nobody cares about these simple games, give us the goods.

while i do enjoy casual-aimed games (brain age, wii sports, etc), i would much rather have a hardcore aimed game.

DS + Nintendogs = 3rd Party Support. Seriously, look back at the DS' track record. DS' lineup sucked from the start, Nintendogs exploded sales and the games came from there. Unless you're going to argue that the DS is lousy (which, by the way, is still getting these "casual" games that everyone is complaining Wii is getting), then this is a waste of time. These "casual" games spark sales and garners better support.

Wow there are so many threads about wii fit. Its not like they are forcing you to buy it by making you watch subliminal advertisements like the sprite commercials do. You don't HAVE to buy it if you DON'T want to. Just ignore it and look for games that are more your style and stop complaining.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. There will always be tradtional games on the Wii but now the are trying to expand their customer base by trying to get non gamers to play. This means there will be moresimple gimmickly games than you will see on other consolesbut as the saying goes if you don't like it you don't have to buy it!
