Zelda Series. They need to improve:
- Story
- Gameplay
- Sound (Orchestrated music PLZ, it worked so well in SMG)
Also, i think they should maybe make a continuing story a la Metroid Prime 3 or Kingdom Hearts, maybe a trilogy of the zelda series.
Haziqonfire
I agree. The story each time is the same same same.
I liked the story in Twilight Princess the most but they could have done SO much more with it.
Even though I've been AGAINST voice acting in Zelda forever, I'm beginning to think it might be a good thing, to give the characters more depth.
Mario games change every time that they come out with a new one.
Zelda is the one that needs a change the most. Although personally I think that all Nintendo series should get the Mario Galaxy treatment:
1. Come up with an idea which fits with the rest of the series but is so unique that it makes you go "wow." The little planets/gravity of Galaxy definitely did this for Galaxy, and it fit the platforming genre really well. They did a lot with this in Galaxy. If they did something unique like that (not specifically the small planets thing, but another great idea that fits the series) then Nintendo could do a lot to make the different series feel fresh.
2. Come up with ideas for the Wiimote which fits with the genre and goes well with the idea they come up with. It doesn't have to be used a lot, but should be used effectively. Mario Galaxy did this with the blue stars and other stuff, which was well implemented into the game. It wasn't over-used, but used well.
3. Have a great art style fitting the game, and try to make the technical graphics be the best that they can make it.
4. Have great orchatrated music (both old and new) which fits the game.
The correct answer is Donkey Kong.SmashBrosLegendas a matter of fact... I was going to put Donkey Kong as one of the choices, but I (and you apparently) felt this is would be the OBVIOUS choice. That's why I didn't put it. :)
good gosh... when either Majora's Mask or Windwaker came out everyone complained that they changed too much... now you guys are saying that it hasnt changed enough. ag1052I welcomed WW's change with open arms... I have yet to play MM so I can't say anything there
LoZ TP was my 1st so it was all new to me and I consider most of the Metroid games perfect
I never played much Mario either
Hmm. I agree with those people who mentioned the constant recycling of items in the Zelda series. It's startingto get a bit monotonous. Some of the new items they added to TP had very limited use.
The spinner was only useful for the rails and those things you have to screw.
That wandcould only be used to control those ancient statues.
And the horseshoe flute... ugh. Please nintendo, bring back proper instruments (the ocarina perhaps).
If you ask me, they should haveexpanded their uses and allow for some creativity.
Maybe the wand could have temporarily controlled enemies.
Maybe the spinner could have run on magic (if they had put it in the game) and constantly go at full speed and cause uber damage. Even better, they could have made it like a skateboard so we could grind on anything we wanted. Could also make a great minigame.
I also think they should add in different difficulty settings. I know they're aiming more for the casual gamers (or non-gamers) but they shouldn't have to choose between them and us hardcore gamers.
Zelda.
Metroid has been changed... the prime series changed it.
Mario has been changed a bit... galaxy
Zelda has not been changed... it's great, yet you always know that it goes Earth, Fire then water temple... then at least 4 more. MM was great. It didn't change the formula heaps, yet it tweaked it enough to deliver a different experience. I'd like something like that. Maybe even an overhaul. Maybe a new story. Link is a goron... i dunno, something different.
Zelda is definitely the series that needs some change.
I think I have heard other people mention this but I think you guys should listen and so should Nintendo as they make Zelda Wii:
Zelda games are getting to a point where its becoming a formula. Its becoming routine to do certain puzzles in the game. Dungeos are where the main action is and the in between action revolves around mini tasks that are not that cool anymore. I say they need to make new puzzles that are intriguing and more action based. People always think puzzles have to involve Link in an enclosed room and he is moving large metal boxes into the right place. Why cant there be more things like finding the right plce to land a precise shot that makes a cauldron of lava to fall on a wall or something. Other things is that there should be some very precise IR and motion based puzzles that once you completed should make you very satisfied.
I think Zelda games need more action esp in between Dungeons. There needs to horse riding battles with local troll gangs and these battles need to occur more than once and they need to have variety in them.
There needs to be an overall war. This is heavily involved in the story. The main bad guy is waging war against the Land of Hyrule and you are involved in fighting back against huge odds. The battles would involve fighting different kind of enemies each battle will introduce a different type of enemie but still have other types. They will have different fighting styles and Link will often be surrounded by them. There will be puzzle elements in this as well. There could be a group of cavalry that are charging and you have to find the right area to place a bomb which makes a bunch of boulders fall down on them. You have to load catpults with bombs and rocks, you have to support archers, you have to ride with your fellow cavalry, and you most importantly have to fight on the front lines with your infantry.
You may be thinking this is not like Zelda, but if they balance out the puzzle with the action this couldnt be any better for Zelda. This will be an excellent way to realy make the zelda games dull and complete. Going to dungeons is connected to the idea that you need to gain the trst of certain factions to help you fight the evil.
Controls....I am sorry but TP had the wanna be button motion that just wasnt cool. I think the quick sword slash that used to be with the A button should be mapped to the 1 : 1 control of the Wiimote. The advantage of this level of control is hitting enemies in unblocked areas of their body. Not all enemies will have these blindspots but when you are trying to hit them slashing high, low, left and right. Next is the strong hits like jump attack. You hold A button and there are specific up, down, right, and left. Pressing a button pulls out your shield waving the nunchuk knocks your shield in certain directions, it can also defelect arrows and such. ALos LINK should be able to thrust and stab in an enemie while hold A, this is something people have wanted for years.
next Items. In TP some items were rarely used and some were used too much. They gotta find uses for items throughout the game and they also dont need wacky Ball and Chains. I suggest cooler items like an Indiana Jones style whip.
SO here is people I know its long but its worth it. Most of Nintendo's major series have taken huge leaps with the Wii. MP3 used some of the best FPS controls I have ever used. SMG created a level design that will never be forgotten in video game history. Zelda has yet to make its big leap. Zelda's huge eap could be this war desgn I suggested and if they really want to awe the industry they can make 1 : 1 controls. If Zelda can look much better than SMG and do all this stuff were gonna see success that makes SMG look normal.
As much as I loooove Galaxy I still have to say Mario. In my opinion I'm just done with the whole "hub world" where you go to several different "levels' repeatedly to do different tasks to gain a certain number of stars or shines. No one really mentions this but I think the formual, while still good, is a little tired.
I'd rather it be a little more....I guess the word is linear....but in more of a sandbox style or even a level to level formula if the scale is kept grand. I'd rather always be going somewhere new, not the same places over and over again.
I thought Corruption was pure gaming bliss. For me it just doesn't...get...better. You could give me four more Prime games and I'm a happy gamer :) Twilight princess was absolute brilliance. ayear later everyone's decided that they're tired of it and I think that's just a shame. Zelda needs some tweeks for sure, but Id'd give Mario the facelift first.
