Link has been my main for years, and the best advice I could give you is to use your long range weapons frequently and keep your distance as much as possible, and then when you have an opening use heavy sword attacks. One thing i like to do is use the boomerang to drag in opponents and set them up for a fully charged spin attack.

Not trying to sound funny or anything, but the best advice I can give you is practice. Try practicingagainst 3 lvl 9 cpu's (on the same team against you) until you can beat them or get close to beating them, not 3 easy to beat characters either like Jigglypuff or Ganon, characters that are actually better than Adult Link. That's what I had to do in order to get as good as I am now with Jigglypuff, even though I realize that she has been completely nuked when it comes to comparing movelists, rangeand weight, but once I learned her though, I could beat top tier characters with little effort. You have to be willing to lose alot in order to get good that way but once you start winning frequently, you'll be incredibly hard to beat. I wouldn't take GohanSephiroth's advice as it suggests alot of hit N run and cowardice techniqueand can get you beat alot.

Your best weapon: spin attack. Deals out some good amount of damage and quickly stunning your opponent for you to sweep in and give them some lashes with a sword or fall back and use your range attacks. But if that doesn't work, he just isn't your character. Try out different characters from the roster and see which vibes best with your style. For me, its Ganondorf.

for play as him myself, i find using your long range weapons frequently is a good choice. ex. when your in the air, throw bombs at the people below you. or use your boomerange to bring people to you and set up an attack (my favorite combo is grab your opponet, throw them back into the bomerang's wirl wind and attack them with a stronger attack lol little complicated? not really). also it takes lots of practice. instead of having you facing three lvl 9 cpu at once on the same team, don't have them on a team. its easier for you to get the hang of the character and learn how to use them when you can acutally run away and make a plan for what to do next.

As a long time Link player, I say watch some Link combo videos. They REALLY help. If you want specific: Learn to Slide (This should be a TOP priority) Use bombs efficiently Ease up on bow and arrow (too slow) Use Smash attacks wisely (They leave you open for a long time if you don't hit especially for Link) Last: Make COMBOS :D They are key to making strategies to trap your opponent into a large variety of attacks. Hope you found my advice helpful :)

Training mode is good for improving your offensive game. Play in slow-mo for a little to get the feel for the timing of the attacks and possible combos.

Use bombs, arrows, and boomerangs in conjunction with each other to create a harmonious projectile assault. Then as your opponent is closing in (while attempting to dodge the long-ranged attacks), prepare an attack such as spin attack, down smash, up smash, or if you're feeling cautious use tilt attacks (any direction).

The first 3 attacks I just mentioned are good against shield rolling opponents as they can catch oppoents on both sides. Up tilt can do that also, but it is weaker, but also safer. Down tilt and forward tilt only attack in one direction and aren't super strong, but they are great moderately safe attacks that can be used for poking. But remember, spacing is very important when using Link's tilt attacks.

Ex: Take out a bomb, throw boomerang. As the boomerang is still traveling, quickly charge and release an arrow. Your opponent will probably have jumped over the boomerang and blocked the arrow. Now you throw the bomb you took out earlier. They'll probably block that too. By this time, your opponent will probably be fairly close to you, so now it's time to choose your attack. If you think the oppponent will shield roll again, use one of Link's attacks that can hit both sides. If you think your opponent will approach head on, you can prepare his forward smash or a tilt attack (keeping range in mind).

And as someone above me mentioned, Link combo videos are very enjoyable to watch and can help inspire you in new ways of using Link's weapons.
