God I hated this part along with all the fishing parts.
I never could do it right, and whenever I got frusturated and I walked away SOMEHOW a fish would suddenly bite when it was too late for me to run back.
Anyways I believe you tilt the Wiimote upwards slowly.
Huh. That's pretty weird. Once it says "fish on" you just have to pull up quickly, then sort of keep it held up to reel it in. If the fish jumps, lower the fishing rod so the line doesn't break. I honestly haven't heard of that problem, and it's been awhile since I've played it. The one thing you should know is that after you catch the fish, it will fall on the ground at your feet. Quickly turn into a wolf and sniff the fish to learn the reekfish scent.
just leave the Wiimote semi-up until you have to actually pull up and you get the "Fish-On!". Keep the pole up, and real in....until the fish jumps. Put the controller down, and do not real in. Raise it back up and reel in when the fish lands back in the water. Continue until you've caught it.
Then smell the bad boy!
Do the same thing you did in the beginning of the game when you needed to catch fish for the storeowner's cat in order to get the slingshot. Pull up when the bobber sinks, and hold it up until it finally gets to you.
That was very annoying in the beginning of the game because it wasn't clear what you needed to do. We all thought we needed to do Wii-motion reeling, but the fishing rod item is simply just a stick with a bobber. I thought I needed bait (from the beehive), but I needed the bottle to store it, and I couldn't get the bottle unless I caught fish for the storeowner's cat, and I thought I couldn't catch fish without the bait...that was probably the worst part of the game for me. The rest of the game though is totally awesome!
