Depends on the games you like.
Personally, i love the nintendo franchises, that and the innovation that nintendo brings to each console is why i bought a Wii.
However each console offers different gaming experiences.Â
It really depends on what games you like. The Wii will have alot of party games and such and it makes it alot of fun when friends come over. Nintendo also makes alot of good first party games(SSBB, MP, SMG, etc.). Xbox 360 and PS3 are both great systems too with great graphics and online, they both have great games too.
If I could only get one console I would choose an xbox 360 or PS3, since I like alot of shooters, and online games.
Â
Yes, the Wii alone could do the job. It's going to have online games soon, and it's got alot of good games out on the virtual console (super mario world, Zelda OOT, DKC, etc.).Â
If you are looking for an everyday console that is going to give you a lasting experience, variety, and depth, the Wii is not the system to buy. I would recommend a 360 or a PS3 over it. I have a personal preference for the PS3 over the 360 based on future titles and the passed success of the PS2, but both systems are good enough that you wouldn't feel bad with your choice.
The Wii is a great system but it is also a very casual system. There are also limitations in the hardware based on the non-ability to expand on the harddrive, the poor implementation of an internet service, and the graphical quality. The system definitely excels in ingenuity but it is going to take quite a bit longer for real breakthrough titles to hit the system as developers are still learning the ins and outs of what is possible with the control scheme.
If you can only get one system do not get the Wii.

To your second question, I own all three systems and my PS3 sees the most use, but this is primarily due to the fact that I have quite a few PS2 games I am still playing through. I have played more next-gen titles on my 360 than either of the two systems, but the game I have owned the longest between the 360, the PS3, and the Wii, is Resistance: Fall of Man for the PS3.
My Wii is only played when I rent newer titles to give them a whirl or when I am playing a virtual console game. Far to many of the games available for the system are mini-games, movie tie-ins, or old ports.Â
I have the Wii60, which I find to be a great combination.
The Wii could certainly stand on it's own, but will be slow in the next couple of months, because the only big game that seems to be coming out this summer is Resident Evil 4 (which you might have already played for the GC), although the Virtual Console has plenty of great games available and Resident Evil 4, Twilight Princess, and Super Paper Mario could probably keep you busy until more good games come out.
The 360 could also stand by itself and currently has a much larger library of games to choose from than the Wii and more high profile games coming out towards the end of the summer and into the fall.
I think you'd be satsified with either of these choices, I've been playing my Wii more lately because I just got it a couple of months ago, but now that I've finished Super Paper Mario I've been going back to the 360.
ok so here is what it comes down to
a wii offers: fun gaming experience but im afraid that the fun will be only temporarily therefore,
a 360 elite offers: graphics up to 1080p, if your a fan of media then youll love listening to music while gaming, a 360 is also compatible with your pc so you can share your files, also has a variety of games and dont forget halo 3!!
so all in all its totally up to you but definitely go with 360 or wii
well if I had to pick only one console it would be ps3 by a long shot. i love all 1st party exclusives Sony has like jak and daxter, team ico games, and god of war. there's also new series like uncharted, lair and heavenly sword. finally the good multiplats like dmc4 and assassins creed. my 2nd choice would be wii though because of super smash bros, mario and metroid. the controller and virtual console are a huge plus for me. the 360 would come in last i'm just somewhat of an anti-microsoft fanboy. it also has fewer games that appeal to me.AsadMahdi59
if you recall he likes good games like halo and mario not jak and dingleberryÂ

and from this past gen jak and daxter was better than mario, if u compare sunshine to any j&d platformer.well this is my opinion
well if I had to pick only one console it would be ps3 by a long shot. i love all 1st party exclusives Sony has likejak and daxter(sucks ass),
team ico games(who're they?),
and god of war(another "beat 'em up" clone)
. there's also new series like
uncharted,
lair and heavenly sword.
finally the good multiplats like
dmc4 and assassins creed(???)

I'd get a Wii, you can't go wrong with $250(plus you can download old school games from NES, SNES, Genesis, Turbo Graphix, and N64) and it's 100% backwards compatable with ALL GC games, controllers, GC Action Replay, and accessories(mem. cards, wave bird, ect). Â
PS3 can play PS2 games, but I don't know if it's %50 or %100. You need a $20-$30 adapter to use your PS2(and maybe PS1) memory cards. No rumble feature in the controller.  SuperExpensive($600, you can get a Core XBOX 360 and a Wii for a little less with tax). You can download PS1 games for $6, but I already have a hard copy of all the PS1 games that I want. Not that many good exclusive games yet. Knowing SONY and the dreaded Playstation "Overheating/Disc Read Error/ECT" errors that plagued the first generation PSXes(PS1) and PS2s. So I'd wait about 2 years on the PS3...Trust me, you don't want to waste another $600 on a replacement PS3. Nintendo is the only reliable console.

typical sony fanboy sunshine is alot better than jak and dingleberry, id rather shoot people than hug them thats why halo is and always will be famous, no wonder that ceo dude for sony retired he knew he was going to lose and pretty much gave up. sorry to the host of this board and the wii boards.

1st off i am not a sony fanboy i own a ds, gc and wii. i only have 1 sony console although i prefer sonys consoles. then u say ud rather shoot people than hug people jak and daxter has shooting in it while mario u squirt people with water. so u pretty much contradicted urself.Fnally ceo dude didnt retire he was shuffled into a different position i think not 100% sure. sony still has a good chance to beat the 360 i dont think the wii can be stopped  any more.I can only get one of them and in my country all of them has the same price xP
Its about 700 dollars or more...
Hitsugaya_gamer
