There are always bad games at the start of a consoles life, the Xbox 360 didnt have many good games until a year after it was released. The PS3 and Wii will pick up this holiday season.
And developers werent expecting the Wii to sell to well, so they werent making many games for it, now that it is selling well they will start to pull games out and hopefully we will get some good ones.
does anyone else agree that the wii has too many games that are aimed toward little kids and not enough aimed toward teenagers? I dont know if it is just me or not but i think the wii needs more "M" games and maybe more people who are planning on getting an xbox360 or a ps3 would choose to get a wii instead.WTF?!?! how many M rated games do you need to be happy, wii has more m rated games thatn gamecube had in its entirety and its only been ouyt for a little while!! here's some ive seen in best buy/ walmart/whereever! Scareface, manhunt 2, resident evil 4, re uc, mortal combat:armageddon, the godfather, far cry, splinter cell, and there will be more, and the Teen games are ridiculously numerous as well. get a life, there is no more reason for people to say nintendo doesn't have enough of these games, if you dont want the games aimed at younger people, then stop shopping at toys r us for your wii games, = use your eyes. end of discussion.

too many bad games? What you consider bad games, someone else may consider an awesome game. and from the sales, a lot of people consider a lot of Wii games to be awesome. I personally detest Mario Party 8, I found it boring.. but then again, I've never liked mario party games. I do however love Wii Sports, and other misc mini game collections.
all im saying is that i wish they didnt make the games like cooking mama: cook-off and all those other dumb games that were a waste. And the games like godfather and farcry were just ports from other systems that didnt really improve on them at all. And no reason to totally flip out over a simple topic.
gosabres26
My sister loves Cooking Mama, they need games to appeal to every audience. And just because you dont like it doesnt mean its a waste.
Dont buy the games you don't want and they'll slowly go away.
Currently kids games sell like **** on Wii. Publishers are testing waters, nobody really knew who would be buying the Wii.
M games will come. Especially after RE, Manhunt, and No More Heros sell well.
"Don't judge a book by its cover, don't judge a game by it's rating."
There are plenty of crappy M rated games (this includes games that only a child/immature human being would like), and plenty of E rated games that someone my age (21) can enjoy.

maybe not "M" games, but certainly less kid oriented
I hope Nintendo focuses more on the hardcore and Mature gamer, why do you think the PS1 was a huge hit. Also every console ever created most of the games were badnintendo_fan675
It was a hit because that's where all the games were in general. The developers loved the PS1 because it was relatively easy to program for (compared to the Saturn), and CD-ROMs were immensely more flexible... and also more profitable... than the Carts Nintendo had decided to stick with that generation. (that all said, the N64 did still manage a 40% market share)

Then don't buy them. God damn people complain about everything under the sun.
Ninty doesn't have to appeal to Just teenagers who like first person shooters and street racing games to be successful. There is more money in other age groups and genders (the ones who would like cooking moma) but don't feel left out because even though there not aimed at us don't mean there are not good fun games that are worth playing (Wii sport, trauma centre, excite truck,Havest moon Wii) Try to broaden your idea of what games are worth playing :)

CDs were easier to create games on and also Square and Enix moved their N64 exclusive games to the PS1, it wasn't really because of Mature games

"Kiddy" games aren't necessarily bad :|NWA_31
I made a mistake by putting "bad" games when i meant to say "kids" games. I dont necessarily think that they are bad, i just think they made too many of them at launch. I realize that they werent sure who the general age of their audience would be, but they banked too much on it being little kids and shouldve added a couple more games like LOZTP and madden 07.
Generally, Kids titles are games based off of movies or pre-existing television licenses. I can see where you're going so far. THQ and Disney Interactive are responsible for many of these. And often, they aren't terribly decent games. When you mentioned Cooking Mama, thats where you lost me. Sure CM doesn't sport head shots and mature story lines, but thats a Cooking Simulation, you cannot honestly believe that its targeted at the same audience that loves SpongeBob and Rocket Power games?
E ratings do not necessarily denote bad games, but I can understand your desire for games designed for an older group of people that involve more thought and focus. Fortunately the glut of movie tie-ins are coming to a close for the Summer, as many deeper titles are emerging in the coming months. Metroid Prime 3, SSBB, No More Heroes (the sheer fact that its from Suda51 tells you its a Mature game), Manhunt 2(whenever it comes out), as well as Disaster: Day of Crisis. Those are all titles aimed at a more mature audience. And to be fair? Most every licensed game you can think of that you would call Kiddy? Guess what, they're all on the Sony and Microsoft consoles as well.
