Good point, I forgot all about that stage.
Now I'm really confused regarding why they didn't go all the way with Toon Link.
I think the biggest factor is that the cel-shaded look is simply too different from the rest, and it would feel out of place. I know his bombs and stage are still cell-shaded, but I think that Cel-shaded Link would look bad in motion compared to the rest.
Maybe they were going for a uniformity type of thing. I mean, look at Pit. He looks...a little different than he did in the NES game.
Well, I'd think that argument would have some merit, but there's the issue of Mr. Game and Watch - they kept him in all his 2D jerky glory. Granted, Pit did receive a graphical upgrade, but the thing is that Toon Link's new shading style isn't really an analogous graphical upgrade; it's just a style change, and one that goes against the whole "toon" part of Toon Link's essence.
