What combat (FOR DS) do you prefer? For me it would depend on the game. I can't really imagine the gameplay experience improving if pokemon had realtime fighitng... I don't know... I'd like it if there was a bit of real time to it's turn based.. like if you pressed a button at a certain time while it was attacking, it'd have a chance of doing more damage, etc. The combat in Spectrobes was interesting, but got boring fast.. I don't know. But hey it's a new thread, right?

I do play some turn based games, but I hate the idea of "waiting for my turn to be hit," real time elements added ease things a bit.

I've always preferred RTS over turn-based.  With the only exception of FFTA, I can't get enough of that game.

I normally don't like real time strategy games. There are only 2 exceptions: Warhammer: Dark Omen and Close Combat. But I would like to see a smaller scale and very fast (and more emphasis on tactics than memorising most effective building lines) strategy game for ds. And happily Final Fantasy XII seems to be just like that!

For puzzles I have lost my soul to "realtime". After touch screen gameplay in Zoo Keeper theres no going back to Bejewelled anymore!

I generally prefer turn-based, but of course it does depend on the game.  I like turn-based because it allows for more depth and strategy, and its cuts down on the "luck" factor and button-mashing/twitch reflex gaming.

I think the real time element of that game is too easy.

Depends on the game. For the most part I like real time, but some of my favorite RPGs (Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross Grandia II) were turn based.

It depends on the amount of patience coming from the gamer. I like turn-based games rather than real time. However, both of them together make the perfect pair. Look at Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. That game had the perfect mix of real time and action based RPG elements, and I could not put it down. Same can be said for Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. I want more games with that style of gameplay.

World of Warcraft ftw >.> no but seroiusly yea i like real time over turn based, turn based is such an old formula, though some ppl still hold interest in turn based, turn based games with real time elements are a little more exciting imo

I would say turn based. I like to consider all options, and think carfully about things.
