Is it recommended that you turn it off after it's standby mode by switching the actual electricity off? Or can I leave it in standby mode?

Do you leave it in standby mode? Will it spoil in standby mode for a long period of time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just leave mine in standby mode all the time, I don't even know how to turn off the power completely other than unplugging it.

I'm pretty sure the red light just means there is power available to the console.

You want to keep it plugged in.

Red light in standby mode means that the Wii ISN'T connected to Wiiconect24

Yellow light in standby mode means your Wii IS connected to Wiiconnect24.
