So, I just got The World Ends With You today. It's a great game and I'm really enjoying it so far. But I noticed on the Phone menu, you lower what level you are. I was reading about this a week or two ago, but I forgot what it does. Apparently, you get some kind of bonus, but you lose stats...? I don't remember. I checked the Instruction book, but it's got nothing. If someone could fill me in, that would be awesome. ^_^

You can slide the bar down to lower your level and for every level you go down the drop rate for pins and experience you get is multiplied. You can slide it to your current max level or down to level one at any time. It's good for leveling up and making money. For boss battles and tough challenges you might wanna just keep it at max level but when fighting regularly you wanna drop it down to make more money.

basicly it makes you earn more EXP and PP (pin points) to level up your charecters and attacks. another neat side effect when your going for a lot of cloths or a realy expencive item is the noise drops more/rarer pins than when your at max level.

I do wonder though:

How much does the percent drop rate go up when you increase your drop rate level?

It changes according to the monster and the difficulty that you're playing on. While some monsters can get their drop rate at 100% fast, others takes a while. So there is basically no optimal number that you should put your lvl to get better stuff, the best way is lowering it the best you can and check if you still can defeat the enemies.

every level you go down it multiplies the default pecent by that much. Each noise has a diffrent pin and percent for each difficulty so if you play on Hard and the pin next to the hard section in the noise report says 20% if you drop your level 5 Lvels you will have a 100% chance of getting the hard pin every time you beatthat noise in hard.

Game manual ftw

"Adjusting your level: You can change your level anytime you want from the Phone Menu. Simply slide the level gauge knob to a value between LV. 1 and your max level. Lower your level to increase your drop rate, which determines how often enemies drop pins in combat."

Bam. How come everyone avoids the game manual? It has so many answers to simple questions.
