I would go for Final Fantasy 4, unless you enjoy your games very easy. They both are great games, with kick ass story line, and characters. But personally I would still go for Final Fantasy 4.
it's really a matter of how crazy you like your games. ff4 obviously isn't going to be as intense due to battles happening on only one screen. twewy is still fantastic though. i loved the story and characters and pretty much everything about it. i was put off by it at first because the battles happen on both screens at once, the art style is super anime like, and i thought that the story wouldn't be that good because it's set in one place the whole time. i was definitely wrong. i think you should probably go with twewy just for the fact that it's an original title. both games are great though. :]
TWEWY is totally, 100% fulled of awesome, everything is GREAT about that game. Even the music. It's hard to find tho, so keep that in mind(at least where I live), and it took me weeks to find it. Haven't played FFIV DS, but I'll pick it up eventually once the price drops.
Comes down to personal preference. Final Fantasy IV is a very traditional RPG and has the stronger story. TWEWY has style coming out the wazoo, and is way way fun to play. TWEWY is better, in my opinion.
