I started playing TP and I just beat the black thing as the wolf. Do i really need the guide to help me end this game + get good weapons, or can I do it on shear intuitiveness and skill? It's not a big purchase but I need to know if its possible to get through this game + uncover most of the secrets without the strategy guide. Thanx for your input...

It is possible to get through the game without using one. However, I would use one just to keep the game from getting overly frustrating. I used it only at those rare times that I got to tired to advance myself through the game when I wasn't in the mood for frustration. I like to keep the game fun, not a labor of love. So, as alot of people will probobly disagree, I at least recomend having one around for the extremely tough times. What does it hurt? Buy one just to make sure you have it if you need it. Nothing would be worse than needing it and not having it, thus having to wait till the next day to buy one and continue. Great game either way.

In all honesty you don't need one you can complete the main storyline fine without the guide, but if you want every last bug/hidden skill/treasure you will most definetely need the guide as there's so much much stuff to uncover. It'a judgement cal. I never used one but I never collected evry last thing.

The prima guide for the wii version is very nicely done. Dislike the approch they did as just doing it as a straight walkthrough meaning I had to search for which poes were where a lot more then just looking at some list. It did help on some puzzles such as the statue one. I often find online walkthroughs very sparse and often lacking some needed bit to help make sense of what you have to do.

The gamespot walkthroughs for some pc games lets just say they didn't play that much or weren't very observant on some things such as what a boss could do or what occurs in a level between rival factions.

TP is a pretty easy game, you would only need a guide a few times so it isn't worth buying a Prima guide. Most secrets are pretty obvious if you look for them (hint: blow up the rocks!). It's also more rewarding IMO finding secrets yourself.

Its more fun with out it. Strategy just make stop play the game every few mins and read. If you need a bit just look it up here with the gamespot guide or gamefaq.

you virtually run into everything secret in a set order anyway. You can find all the heart pieces pretty fast just playing the main story noramally. only thing you might cheat on is the ghosts, which are in absolutely random spots. Even then the poe quest sucks and doesn't help you at all.

Just got the game plus a wii about a week ago, i have only used a guide once i think and i have just recieved the master sword. Iused the guide for one puzzle (SMALL SPOILER how to thaw out the zoras /SMALL SPOILER)however i was proud to say that i did the water temple and the statue puzzle without any guides.

I am only using the guide so that i dont give up on the game in frustration, like i did with Ocarina.

Thanks guys, I think I'm gonna get the guide just to have it. Plus I like to uncover secrets and extras in the game that i want to make sure I dont have to restart the game for.

It may be too late, but don't get the guide. Gamespot has an online guide for FREE and there are walkthroughs available for FREE under Cheats and Walkthroughs. I'm about halfway through and there have been three points when I used it out of frustration. Save your cash and by another VC title.

I mean the book isnt all that expensive and I always liked to have a guide with pictures instead of just text ya know? If the gamespot guide has pics then Ill print that out but I doubt it does

No. Guides are a rip off. And the only games I'd think you'd ever want a guide for are those impossibly big open ended RPGs.
