Breaking news here!

Wow! I wasn't really expecting to hear news like that now!

What do you think they will be? Kotaku is speculating Sega Master System...

I would think Saturn is a sure bet too...

What do you think? What do you want? What would make you really, really happy?

That would be awesome if it were both the Dreamcast and Sega Saturn, I really doubt it but hey, a man can dream can't he....

Probably GameBoy and Sega Master System. 3DO might be an option also.

I bet Sega Master System is a sure bet. I don't think Saturn would be feasible because of the size of games. Gameboy would be awesome.

Just had a horrible thought: What if one of the mystery systems was the Virtual Boy?!

Putting that cataclysm out of mind, like most I think one will be the Sega Master System. While it would never happen, I'd love for the other to be the Sega Dreamcast; thought that was an awesome system!

What's everyone getting excited over? Nothing has been announced.

Anyway... every good cartridge based system is already on the VC and disc based systems are an impossibility.

HECK YEAH!!! I really hope its the Master System... thats what I grew up on while everyone else was playing the NES. While it was a whole lot less popular and didnt have nearly as many games, it still has some of my favorite games of all time... Phantasy Star, Penguin Land, Wonder boy in Monster Land, and so on.

I'd also like to point out that the TG-Duo ran a combo of carts and discs. Disc based games have already been released on the VC.

Personally, I think that some of the handheld titles would be great, but I don't think that mixing those two worlds would be a good move. Maybe, taking the classic handhelds and releasing them with the option of DS mobility is in the works. It's pretty likely that the Master System and Sega-CD are the next to surface. I might be way off on my gaming history, but I believe those are the next two systems that were in the console renaissance.I kind of hope that eventually some of the classic PC games of the late 80's early 90's will be ported over, though. I'd love to be able to play point n click adventures. Keyboard compatability makes a lot of the sierra games playable as well as some of the classic RPG's.

I'll keep dreamin'. Either way, more classic games is a plus for me.

Hudson is releasing Turbografx-CD games on the VC. The Dynamistic Hero, Gate of Thunder and Super Air-Zonk are all CD games. Disc based systems can be there.

I can see Sega CD and maybe Sega Master System. However, where is the MSX? Japan was supposed to add the console this year. Could NIntendo cancel it?

I'd say Gameboy Advance would be good, original gameboy would seem too old and most if not all games would've lost their fun factor. Is Megadrive on there already if not then that.

I am hoping for the first Street Fighter, if I remember correctly, it was called Fighting Street on Turbo CD, right? As for MSX, I'd love to actually play Metal Gear, since I did try that emulated one on PC and I just did not like playing it like that.

Actually, the games for eariler disc-based systems generally weren't much larger than the ones for later cart systems like the N64 or NeoGeo. It's not until much later (PSX) that disc space was really exploited.

I know you're probably being sarcastic, but that would be really great, in my opinion. Or the 2600 and Master System. As long as a late 70s/early 80s system is in there somewhere. 8)

I'd like to see Sega CD so I don't need to spend $100 on Snatcher. Used to own a Master System, the shooting gallery game was really good, but every other game I got my hands on wasn't too compelling.

Yeah, all handhelds up until the DS used carts (The DS itself uses Cards). And yeah, it could be I suppose. Then again, they may also just save those for their next handheld.

I would definitely agree that the Sega Master System would be a good and quick addition to the Virtual Console. Its games are small and, like the TG-16, relatively unknown (outside of Sega fan circles). There are some good, fun titles in there that could make a return, like Zillion, the original Alex Kidd and the original Phantasy Star. The controller issimilar to the NES' two-button plusjoypad controller, so no need to get a Classic Controller if you don'talready have one.Best of all, they should be cheap at 500WP (just like the Genesis and SNES games are 800WP).

I think that Saturn games would be nice, but they are pretty large, although there are some Turbo CD games available; that said, I think these are mostly larger TurboChip games with CD audio, so they don't get too big. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the Disc Channel upgraded to include emulators for the Saturn and the Dreamcast. The GC or Classic Controller could substitute for the Dreamcast, but the Saturn controller (with six face buttons and two shoulders) is a bit harder.

Dreamcast games via the disc drive? Definitely wouldn't work. Besides the fact that there isn't enough difference between the Wii and DC for emulation, DC games were also on proprietary discs that the Wii would not be able to read.

Now for Saturn they could just pull the same trick as with the N64, and map some buttons to the stick. Or, alternatively, they could map them to the ZR and ZL buttons.

Ummm....TG16 CD games are available now.

But I get what you are saying. Games for the Dreamcast and Saturn will not be possible. The only reason TG16 CD games are, are because the CD was really only used for CD sound for the most part and a little extra storage. Most Dreamcast games are 800mb to 1.2 GB and Saturn games take up a full CD. And its not just sound, its stuff that cant be compressed easily.

People, the Dreamcast and Saturn are not options. Not until they release a hard drive, which Nintendo said they had no plans to do.

I could, however, see them adding the ability to play Dreamcast and Saturn games on the Wii, via the original discs, if you own them. I believe this would be the only way (without a hard drive) possible, and even then it is highly unlikely.

My guesses: Master System, GB, GBC, or maybe even GBA. MSX. Possibly Game Gear? Jaguar might even be a distant possiblity (but I would think very unlikely). Or maybe even Atari...

Who really knows? If i had to pick 2: Master System and MSX.

I think the Wand of Gamelon might see the light of day again on the Wii, if you now what I mean...Arkthemaniac

I hope not. I had that game...as a collectors item. Sold it on ebay for about 80 bucks. it was horrible.

Dreamcast GD discs aren't that much different than DVD discs, just a smaller capacity. While I agree with your point. It is entirely possible Nintendo has planned DC compatibility all along and the drive can read GD roms. I doubt it, but you never know. When I mentioned this, I forgot the dreamcast did use GD discs.

Most Saturn games didnt use all the buttons anyway, and the ones that did could easily be mapped to the c-stick, for the most part.

Yeah, I know...but if you throw in GB/GBC/GBA games, might as well suggest GG too.

Not many games Id like to play on my TV...but if there was DS connectivity, there are quite a few that would be fun on the DS.

Wait a second... MSX is already supported in Japan. It should be there, but it's not. Hmm....

Anyways, I do seem to recall "Commodore" mentioned before launch, yet nothing became of it (as of yet anyways).
