i doubt it's cheating or he's honestly doing it. however this is odd if it is lag, because i never have seen anyone or myself lagahahaGThat's why I question the whole "It's the lag" idea. I've never had lag ONCE when I played MKWii online.
I've seen something similar to that, I saw a guy that whenever he falls off the edge he Magically teleports into first, so whenever he was last you would see him disappear and then see him in first place.WiiMan21
That happened to me. A guy in last kept going over the edge, and then he magically appeared above me at the end and stole my victory. I actually saw him dropped right in front of me.

I know what lag is, and what I experience online that day was not lag.WiiMan21
Because Nintendo has an online system for dealing with lag, if someone has lag then the game will predict what they are doing until the lag stops, that's why you'll see someone flies off the track and then they are somewhere else, the computer was predicting it for a few seconds, and then they picked the connection back up and they are in a different place.
I've seen some weird things happen that lag can't explain.
For instance, yesterday (You can ask JordanElek because he was there too) I was playing Coin Runners on battle mode, and my girlfriend was losing coins even though nobody was around her and she didn't get hit by anything. Also, people would drive right through walls (though that one is probably lag), and a number of times I've hit a guy, my character does his little celebration as if he got a point, but I would get no points for hitting the guy.
I'm sure lag explains it all somehow, but I've done a lot of online gaming in my time, and I have to say that if this is lag, this is the weirdest lag that I've ever seen.

Think about lag in WoW, when your buddy starts lagging out on his screen all goes as normal aside from chat, but on your screen he/she keeps walking forward (sometimes off edges) and then get teleported back once the lag stops. Only this time he/she comes back in a different position because on thier screen they only moved ten feet left normally. If that helps...

The reason none of us have experience lag (at least how we might traditionally think of it) is because that's not how Mario Kart handles connection hiccups. Your own racer is never affected on your own screen. It doesn't play everything in exactly real-time, so weird stuff will seem to happen to someone on your screen, while on that person's screen, nothing strange is going on.
From what I can tell, if another player has a connection hiccup, his racer just dies on everyone else's screen. He'll just keep going straight, usually into a wall (or through a wall) or right off the edge. Once that hiccup is over, we'll see the racer where he is on his screen. So it looks like he's teleporting, but he's not.
This also affects the end of the race occasionally. Have you ever been in third place when you cross the finish line, only to end up getting fourth or fifth place in the rankings? Or have you ever shot a green shell at someone, and it goes right through him, only to have him fly up in the air a second later and the shell disappears? That's all due to lag. Everything ends up how it's supposed to, usually, but what we see on our screens can be a bit weird.
Needless to say, this is an infinitely better way to handle lag than in something like Brawl, where everybody slows down to make up for the hiccups. But for Brawl, that's actually better, I think. It would suck if everyone just hopped and skipped around and you didn't really know where they are at any given time. For Mario Kart, that isn't so pertinent.
Now the coin thing that bob mentioned, I can't explain. I lost maybe three coins in total due to a random -1 thing, even though no one was around me. Unless there's some item that I don't know about, this is either a glitch or a hack. I'm guessing a glitch.
So, I've been playing MKWii online for a while now and I've found some hackers that really Pi$$ me off!!! For instantance, there was this guy how was in 1st place and got nailed by a blue shell and one second later he teleports somewhere else and then he teleports like 10 feet ahead of where he orignally was and ended up winning thwe race!!! I've had this happen to me many time and it annoys the heck out of me!!! How about you guys? Did this ever happen to you?TwilightSoilder
unfourtunatly there will always be cheaters. Sad, acne ridden, 40 year old losers living in their mothers basements and living off Cheetoes and Coca Cola and we just have to let nintendo deal with it.
BTW there were no cheaters till USA got MK
BTW there was no lag till USA got MK
