if im not completely retarded, i would say that the ds lite is still being produced. next we have the dsi and finally the xl. given all 3 are in production which one will have the true successor? there hasnt been an answer to the slot 2 yet. i am also thinking that nintendo wants you to use the slot 2 given their latest pokemon game supports pal pak. other companies may have given up on the slot 2 but nintendo hasnt.

which device represents the direction nintendo will go in, in your opinion? which device or devices are more akin to the gameboy micro?

I didn't understand a word of that. What's Slot 2? I've never heard of a Pal pack, either.

Also, what do you mean by "which one will have a true successor"? The DSi is the successor to the DS lite and the DSi XL isn't a successor to either.

DS Lite. Nintendo is going down hill. They are backing themselves against a wall with all these "new" techs.

There's nothing to understand. Nintendo is a business, and if they think they can make a profit by releasing a new system every year, they will.

I think he means the slot at the bottom of the DS and DS Light that supports the Game Boy Advance Games and the Guitar Hero grip

What? Nintendo is doing fine and still profitting. Their revenue might not be as a high but it's still profits.

I wouldn't call the best selling consoles, home and portable "going downhill" but umm yeah as for the topic, the 3ds is the successor to the ds. dslite/dsi/dsi xl are all "ds" just different versions....like high top/low-top sneakers. as for a direction, I'd say the dsi.....portable with small new features.

the DSi is the closest to a "successor" we have, and if you're wondering which one was upgraded to the 3DS, i'm going to bet the DSi, based on the scarce info we have on it.

Yeah I don't think it's a good idea to add new features like a camera until another generation of hardware comes out.
