Hey guys, I recently bought a new copy of the Metroid Prime Trilogy, and I have yet to open it yet. I am facing a dilemma though, either keep the game or take it back to the store. I want to keep it because I figure the game is no longer being produced, so maybe one day a new copy could be worth something. Yet I'm not very interested in playing it, so that is why I want to take it back to the store. What would you guys do in this situation?

Unless your a serious game collector, I wouldn't recommend trying to pretend to be one. There's a lot more that goes into that business than simply having a new copy. If you don't want the game, you might as well take it back.

Well, although it went out of production, its value hasn't risen. If you're hoping to make some money out of it, you'll be holding onto it for some years to come.

In 20 years it's might be worth something. But are you seriosly gonna hold onto it for 20 years? I bought a copy recently and throught the same thing but I said screw it and opened it. It's not worth my time and energy I'd rather just play the game.

i would just play it. I don't think you honestly bought it with the intend of just collecting so why bother doubting yourself now.

Yes it's serious, I don't want to play it because I've played them before. I just figured that I maybe had a chance to make some money, but like everyone said, it would take years for this game to rise in value.

how could you have played them before? the trilogy is the only way to play the new prime 1 and 2 versions.

It'll be a loooong time to wait, and even then you probably won't make much off it. I'd recommend either playing it, or returning it.

I've passed it over several times while shopping (in game stores), so I'm not convinced that it's worth anything currently. It may take a console gen. or two to for it to seem truly valuable...

The good news is, it hasn't gone down in price either, so you might well be able to sell it for same price you paid for it.

I would just play it. The controls greatly improve the first two.

Since it's going out of production you could wait a year and try to sell it for like 80 bucks or something on ebay, i bet some desperate people would pay that much. And btw I love Trilogy and even if you already played them all, its still something you might want to hold on and play in the future.

Agreed, there may be someone who actually needs the copy Is a great game and the trilogy package is just awesome, but if it isn't your kind of game you better return it Regards

Why dont people here understand how limited edition items work? DONT TAKE IT BACK! This game will be worth triple the cost in only a few short years. If you dont want to play it, keep it wrapped and lock it up. You will thank me in a few years time.

But imagine if you did that with the first MetroidPrime game on Gamecube. You'd have a sealed, perfect copy of a game that nobody needs to buy - the future determines the demand and the future is hard to guess.

Do whatever you'd like to do. I'm not ashamed to admit I have two copies (one sealed) of this game. I've seen too much of this get rich quick stuff...

Just make sure to report your earnings on your 1040 when you finally sell them. :)

Well I think I will return the game and get my money back. It seemed like a good idea at first to snag it and maybe make some money off of it, but I can't wait long enough for it to increase in value, and who is to say it will increase anyways? So I just took it back and gave someone else a chance, who really wants it, to enjoy the game.

Only time can tell. Give it a few more years. Maybe 2-3 years and it might be worth something of value.

I wouldn't put my money on it, literally.

I can still buy most NES/SNES games for about 10 euros, and the really rare ones such as Super Mario RPG are 50 euros. So I doubt you'll even be able to get your money out of it.

But if I can give you one piece of advice: try it out. It's one of the most compelling gaming experiences this gen, possibly ever imo.

You must not be getting new copies... and if you are, who is your hook up? lol... Just browse around amazon and scope out the price of some aged unopened games... face it, we all are looking for the next "Stadium Events" in history, Prime Trilogy may not be it, but I'm willing to bet I'll be able to cash in on it one day...
