WII-KLY UPDATE: TWO NEW CLAS-SIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

This week you can spend your time carefully planning puzzle strategies or rescuing a damsel in distress. Help one of the most iconic characters in all of video gamedom eat some troublesome ghosts or set off to defeat an evil organization using only your furious fists. The choice is yours. What are you in the mood for?

Nintendo adds new games to the WiiTM Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii PointsTM to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

Pac-Attack(Super NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points): Pac-Man makes a rare appearance outside of a maze environment in Pac-Attack, a fun and quirky puzzle game. This unique entry in the genre puts its own twist on established conventions and adds one of gaming's most iconic characters to the mix. The goal is simple: Keep your screen clear of falling blocks and ghosts by lining up blocks horizontally, causing them to disappear. Clearing the ghosts, though, requires the help of a hungry Pac-Man (who just happens to swing by every so often for a snack). It's up to you to get all of the ghosts lined up for him, because Pac-Man will keep eating them until he is stopped by a block or he runs out of ghosts. In addition, his range of movement on the playing field is limited to horizontal or downward-thus adding further strategy. There are three game modes to choose from: 1 Player Normal, 2 Player VS., and the challenging 1 Player Puzzle. Feel like gobbling up some ghosts?

Riot Zone (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1 player, Rated E 10+ for Everyone 10 and Older - Tobacco Reference, Violence, 800 Wii Points): Riot Zone is a side-scrolling fighting game that follows two heroes as they fight to take down an evil organization. The crime syndicate Dragon Zone has kidnapped Hawk's girlfriend and it's up to him and his partner detective, Tony, to get her back. Join them as they jump "fists first" into the grim Kowloon district. Play as Hawk or Tony and fight through all five stages in the deadly Kowloon district. Smash down the Dragon Zone goons in areas like the Harbor, Abandoned Warehouse and the Ghetto. Both characters have unique skills and attacks. Hawk is a master of karate, while Tony is a hard-hitter. That being said, both guys are massive and possess killer techniques. The hard-boiled action is enhanced by the game's realistic sound effects.

What's with us only getting two games now? I thought Nintendo was being skimpy with three. Hopefully this trend doesn't continue.

I owned Pac-Attack on GBA and Riot Zone looks like a cheap rip-off of Streets of Rage so I guess I'm not getting any new games.

I hope Nintendo gets back to three games per week.

Two games would only work if they released games worth buying.

Yea, I can see us only getting two games a week. Let's see:

3 games per week, 52 weeks per year, minimum 5 year console life = 780 games. Add in all the original launch titles, the 4 game release week (twice I believe), and we're talking almost 800 games. There are not 800 great past-generation games. There might be like...100.

2 games per week, 52 weeks per year, minimum 5 year console life = 520. With the first year of 3 release Mondays and we're talking closer to 600 games. That's still an amazing collection. True, most of the games aren't great...(Pac-Attack?)...but every game from back then wasn't great. When people had the VC in mind, I'm sure most people wanted a select few games from there past collection and maybe some classics they missed. I was hoping a limited release number would put more pressure on Nintendo to release some more of the worthwhile games instead of a release week like this...guess I was wrong.

This is ridiculous, maybe if they stopped spending a half hour per game releasing crap no one's ever heard of, and start putting in some real thought into releasing games people will actually ENJOY, then they'll make some money. These games are trash.DahlVaughnni

Yeah, I already read that post. I have nothing against those games, but I really want to save my last VC points for SMRPG.

This is getting pathaic Nintendo Wares Any "Good Games" Pac-Attack and Some Random Turbocrap game why why cant they release A good game and why only 2. I highly doubt you ever played on 75% of the library. I admit I don't and I did support on games that I didn't play before until. I'm about to download Top Hunter on Neo Geo. The game seems to be fun (a platformer with Metal Slug graphics) since I made research and I can take risks on games. The only game I regret is Shockman. I have 20 VC games.

Email to Square-Enix, if you want to see Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy to the VC.

Also, don't bring again the mess with Goldeneye. That game is sureto not comingto either VC or XBLA. However, I'd like to see Banjo. Right now, Nintendo and Microsoft discussed on that.

I just Sold my Xbox 360 to a friend. Now I only own a Wii and PS3 (and Dreamcast SNES)...but yet I dont plan on buying many new games for either system besides another Zelda and FF13,MGS4...So I am planning on only buying Games on the VC and PSN Store...Yeah this weeks selections do suck...Yet I will buy them cause I WANT TO OWN THEM ALL!! HAHAHAHEHEHEHEHHOHOHOHUHUHUHAHAHA

There are soooo many well known games, they havent released anything BIG since super mario bros. 3 (in my opinion), that was 2.5 months ago they should release something BIG now.

what i meen by big is something really well known and really awesome, like mario party, yoshi's island, majoras mask.

who said wii would last only 5 years maybe ,,, itll be like ps2 ...

and for the record i owned pac attack its pretty good on puzzle mode.. its like dr mario without the viruses ,,
