Very Old MKDS question (what is best kart player combo)

O.k. My Wii blew up and somone hacked my steam (which I have back but am afraid hackers are going to regain my info in Windows until I get my Mac Leapord disc to reinstall osx and windows).

So I've been playing a lot of Mario Kart DS again. It's very fun. Just as fun as it was when I bought the game.

I'm over 100% in wins (217 something wins - 115 losses I think). But I have been racing against some 3 and 4 star players and my Toad in the tank (bomber?) isn't cutting it anymore. People with Luigi's vacuum car and BOWSER (of all characters) are whooping my ass.

So what's the best combo do you think? Any 3 star/4 star players out there with some advice?

It's a lot more fun now being ranked with better players because its not either: 1. a runnaway for me 2. a runnaway for them. The only thing I fear is a lot of them are hackers? I see people fall off an edge or cliff and end up ahead of me and going the same speed they were when they fell off. is this hacking or lag?

Still, the most importan is your thought on the player/kart combo.

R.O.B. is a very good character to use. I use him in Mario's racecar-looking kart (forget the name) and it works pretty good.

Im opposite shackr. I use Mario and use ROB-LGS

well the character does have an effect due to weight which has an effect on how you drive through muck.

I snake, I know how. I'm good at it too. I'm still getting owned by other snakers who are using very different karts and characters that I'm not used to racing against.

I guess I'm trying to look at the numbers like this.

At a 50% chance of winning if I have 50 wins/50 losses out of 100 games (the expected outcome) I'd be at 1.0 rating. The expected outcome of a 1.0 rating for a 25% chance to win is 25/75. So if you play 300 games you are expected to win 75 games out of 225 losses your rating is still 1.0 because your chance to win is 25% and not 50%. So similarly if you are at 150 you've now doubled your win loss ration to 2.0. If I were to play another win another 75 games I'd be at 3.0 win/loss ratio. Since I'd theoretically only be playing fifty games and winning them that would make a 200/100 a 2.34 win/loss ratio.

Either that or I'm an idiot that sux at math. The latter seems more likely. Without the chance of winning I'd be at 66%. I just mean that say at 100/100 if I jumped up to 200/100 I'd ramp my win efficiency by 100%.
