We rented Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for gamecube a few days ago. Put it in the wii, it works like it's supposed to. Later, we want to play Super Smash Brothers Brawl. We try to take the disc out...and IT WON'T COME OUT. We've tried everything we can think of to get it out! The only thing we haven't done yet is take the face off and just pick the disc out. But the wii has these weird "Y" shaped screws, we can't get a screwdriver that fits. The customer service place said we could send it in and they can get it out for us, but it'd cost around 80 dollars and take 2-3 weeks to get it back. Hecks no! I've never had a problem quite like this. It might be funny if it wasn't so serious, but it's annoying now. Does anyone have any ideas?

i would suggest buying the specific screw driver to open it. This voids your warranty though i think.

That doesn't sound right at all... This was obviously a product error, shouldn't it be nintnedo's responsibuility? Oh well, cruel world, go find a y shapped screw driver, I found and bought one when my DS broke.

You can get a console tool kit from thinkgeek for $20 dollars. It has everything you need in it.

If it's under warranty it'll be free and they'll get it back in 5 business days

DO NOT TAKE IT OUT YOURSELF

You mess up the laser placement and you're screwed, you now have a doorstop

Actually, that is exactly what Nintendo sounds like, especially if your system is out of warranty. 80$ is the magic amount, and they do say 2-3 weeks. However, I got my system back in 4 days!

Also, you may get a year warranty on the repair.

If you just want the tool, some mod kits come with the tool. So its like getting a mod case for $10 less than just the tool.

You should send it in. My bro had the same problem with his huge CD DVD player and all that he wanted was the disk( it was limited edition or something)!:D

Simple. If your Wii is still under warranty: Send it in. Mention that the warranty is still active. If it expired: It's time to crack it open.

Thanks guys. We've had it pretty much since it came out, so it's defintely out of warranty. But, we figured sending it in would be the smartest choice. If we tried to get it out ourselves, we'd probably end up breaking it. $80 is still cheaper than a new wii after all. It's just not worth the risk of breaking it.

All repairs from Nintendo have a one year warranty
