Virtua Tennis will support M+, all I've seen of it so far though are a few screens. At this stage I'd say Grand Slam is in the lead, what with the controls, character roster, official tournaments, create-a-player, career mode, online etc. Sounds like it's going to be a fully fleshed out experience, which I'm really looking forward to. Virtua Tennis is on my "wait and see" list.

VT has online too. The big question is will it have motionplus. no confirmation from sega and the game is coming out in a month so it doesn't look too good.

Sorry dude can't get you a link, that was a few weeks ago and I don't remember where I saw it, I just remember reading it somewhere. I'm not actually sure about it myself though now, I've seen no actual confirmation that VT will use M+ so maybe wherever I read it had their facts wrong? Anyway, I'm looking forward to Grand Slam much more than Virtua Tennis. Grand Slam looks great.

On Virtua Tennis 2009 for the Wii, can you play with 2 local players online against 2 other players?

I owned VT 2009 and can confirm that it uses Wii Motion+ although you'd be hard-pressed to tell it. Racquet motion is not 1:1 or anything close. When you swing the Wiimote, it goes into a canned animation of your guy's swing. Read my impressions here. Needless to say it went back to the store for a refund. I have not, thus far, tried Grand Slam Tennis as it is $50 which is a lot of money to blow on a game. I'll wait until it goes down to $30 or so and see if it's better. In the meantime, I have real tennis to keep me occupied. Hope my mini-review up there helps.

This game is actually really good. The online is great as well. I've been playing it up like none other. My entire right side is soooo sore and I like it. This is the best tennis game I've ever played. I don't understand the issues you're having with the controls. I had trouble at first, but after about 2-4 hours of practice (it takes some time) you really get the hang of it. I've been creaming people left and right online. Occasionally there will be lag when the person returns a serve, but other than that, it works like a dream. Seriously, this game is quality goods and I wouldn't be surprised if we see more positive reviews. p.s. I can't say anything about Grand Slam, but that looks to be good too. I just like the fact you don't have to press "any" buttons for Virtua Tennis and the speed of the game is just phenomenal (I've seen videos of Grand Slam and it looks a lil' slower paced.)

Read my post linked up above. My issue is that the motions aren't 1:1 or anything resembling 1:1. I can swing the Wiimote as hard and as fast as I want to try and hit a return, but my guy will only react according to the pre-recorded animation, not to how hard or fast I'm swinging the Wiimote. I can swing the Wiimote and have it resting at my side and the guy on-screen is still finishing up the animation, that's not realistic. The point of WM+ is 1:1 movement, VT 2009 is NOT 1:1 or anything close. Nowhere did I say the game wasn't fun, I just don't find it to resemble the game I play called tennis.

Try this next time you're playing. Rush to the net and wait for the AI to hit a shot to you. Now in real tennis, you could just hold your racquet with a slightly-loose grip and cushion the ball when it hits the head thus making the ball pretty much drop close to the net and die wherever you want, forcing the guy playing in the backcourt to scramble to the net. Try doing this in VT. Again, maybe I'm expecting too much from either WM+ or the games, but it seems these two things were made to go hand in hand.

I wouldn't say it's 1:1, but I would say the controls work very good for the game. The animations are there to keep you on track and to allow for power swings etc. (i.e. like in Mario Tennis where you clock up before you hit). I find the controls to be very responsive and work very well with the M+. Mind you, I've put hour upon hours into the game. You may have just gotten it and are still getting used it. It's ok, you'll get the hang of it. Just quit concentrating so hard and have fun. I was on the verge of taking it back to the store within' the first couple of days I got it. I stuck with it and I'm so happy that I did. It's a really well done attempt in using the M+. Not perfectly 1:1, but it's close enough and works really well after some time invested. It also helps if you're in a bit of shape. Davey, maybe you're just weak? Try hitting a bit harder.
