I never played Final Fantasy 2 on my Super NES. I was going to download a new virutal console game, is this one worth it? I liked Final Fantasy 3 a lot.

If you're a fan of FF then definitely, but it might be worth seeing if you can find the DS remake (Final Fantasy 4, they released it as 2 in the US thus the different numbering but they're the same game) as it's the definitive version.

Yeah I really enjoy the FF series. I don't have a DS so the only version I will be able to play is the VC one. I read in one review the game is strange because you gain and lose a lot of characters throughout the game. The reviewer said it can be a complete waste of time to level up certain characters. Do you have a group of characters that stay with you throughout the story?

No. As a matter of fact, if I remember correctly (it has been forever and a day since I played the game) you even lose the main character at some point in the game. It is a fantastic game however. If you like role playing games in general and Final Fantasy specificallty, pick it up, especially if you liked Final Fantasy III.

I say yes, the story and the characters are very much worth a playthrough. I'm assuming you own a DS because you played FF3, so I recommend you buy FF4 for the DS. FYI FF2 is FF4 in japan, 2 and 3 never made it to the USA until years later.
